Adscend Media VS CPALead - EPC - My findings (Reports Included)

I would like to state from the offset that this is in no way an attack on CPALead, I use the network religiously and I am thrilled with the support and trust I have gained with the network over the year or so I have been using them and I will continue to use them for certain projects. PLEASE REMEMBER: This is relevant to MY content. Your content will provide different results; This is a very subjective report, please do not make decisions based from this.

For the testing I conducted, I used the same widget (same skin and same text, almost identical - minus CPALead's required "help" button at the bottom). The widgets were on the same page with the same content. I ran CPALead's widget slightly earlier than I ran the Adscend widget so for fairness, I will only be considering the USA EPC.

To the numbers (this is where it gets interesting)!

CPALead (couple of hours)

As I have recently lost my mobile offers on CPALead (they converted almost identical to the current 30cent US offers I am pushing currently) you will not see a completely fair view of the US EPC but I will be contacting an AM and asking for my mobiles to conduct a fair experiment. From my experience, however, the mobiles to do not convert to an EPC of over 0.10 cents.

As you can see from my findings, a total EPC of 0.04 over at CPALead (bearing in mind UK converts much worse than the US on both networks and UK and International EPC dragged down my totals) and a total of 0.19 EPC for Adscend (when you're hitting 3-4k on CPALead a day, and then you consider that's 4 times the EPC it adds up!)

I understand that the fairness is difficult to measure as the mobiles for my CPALead account have been disabled. I will be contacting staff today to regain use of those offers and then hopefully I can respond with a more accurate result of exactly what we're dealing with here. I do know for a fact though, I never in my CPALead history witnessed EPC's of as much as 0.30c+ on mobiles offers with high volume traffic like I can achieve at Adscend.

Okay, TL;DR post over, this is no way an attempt to ruin business for any network here, CPALead is a great network but please remmeber this is MY CONTENT. Your content may provide different results.

What are your findings when it comes to Adscend VS CPALead? Anyone made a major switch?

 

I actually appreciate your willingness to split test networks. I might add a small note. When doing split test it's important to also run the same offers as well. From that you can scientifically prove your findings. I know I'm preaching to the choir seeing that you mentioned CPA Lead didn't have mobile offers at the time of your test.

the mobile offers are the best and it could really effect the earnings. i never tried Adscend, but i might check it as well

 

back when i tested the two networks with my sites i noticed that it took ascend almost twice as long to register the same amount of clicks as cpa lead did my theory to that was that ascend was scrubbing clicks in order to inflate the EPCs i believe cpa lead is more honest in their numbers and that i am more respectful of anyway that was my experience

 

What kinds of offers did you split test HagakureSamurai?

 

The one factor I did not even think to consider was that Adscend potentially shave the clicks to boost EPC's. I'm going to run a full day anyway and get back to you. I have received more traffic today than I have over the past week or so so the clicks should be linear to that fact and be higher of course. If they are sadly not, we'll know what's going on here although my earnings do seem to be up today compared to what they would normally be over at CPALead.

 

Why did you loose your mobile offers? Was it due to TV / movie sites or other copyright content? Adscendmedia doesn't allow copyright material either....

One thing I noticed with adscendmedia lately is there are great days and not so great days. I had a site making $30 - $50 a day drop to $0 - $10.. mobiles just stopped converting.

Thanks for your findings. In all fairness - as stated - send over an even amount of traffic between us and our various competitors - you'll almost always find us to have the highest earnings.

And no - we don't shave clicks or leads or anything of the sort.

If it's your belief that we are shaving clicks (we simply aren't) - I urge you to compare your earnings over a 24 hour period rather than EPC. There have been instances where our publishers actually saw a lower EPC, however they had higher earnings in a 24 hour period. Actual earnings is even more so representative if the mix of traffic remains the same. In terms of overall earnings, our network tends to yield the highest returns to our publishers.

And as always - remember we do not allow copyrighted material. As a note, if you contact me on AIM (AdscendFehz) or email (Fehzan at AdscendMedia dot com) - I can look through your content that you want to promote the gateway on and we can allow you access to some of our highest earning (private) mobile campaigns pending review.

Sean9 - the drop in your revenues is likely due to changes in your traffic or other factors - our EPCs tend to remain constant throughout time (I just checked our overall EPCs over a 5, 15, and 30 day period) - everyday is a great day when we look at our publishers earnings and EPCs.

 

The problem with CPALead is the offers are all over the place. For example, I can't place an offer on my site in the morning and expect it to still be working in the evening.
Also I believe only top earners get to promote the more expensive mobile offers now - which was a huge blow to my earnings.

 

To add to what Fehzan said, the reason that some people have had lower EPCs but hgiher earnings is that it often seems like we have more international offers than CPALead does, so you get more overall clicks but the offers for some oddball countries perform very low and drag down your overall EPC. DoMX, I believe it is you that had almost 20% of your traffic from India today? I'm not sure if CPALead has offers for India or not, but I know this really drags down the overall EPC.

If you want to do a more accurate split test, to make sure we're not shaving clicks, or that the time of day or traffic volume changes are having an effect, you could always use some Javascript code that chooses a random number and then shows either our gateway or theirs based on whether that number is odd or even. It's not going to give you a perfect 50/50 split but it'll be pretty close.

 

I had awesome experience with Cpalead, I am getting into Adscendmedia recently, I found ADM got way more offers than Cpalead, But CPalead got heigher epc cause of gateway look and feel. But Both network is awesome.

 

I'm happy to accept there is no form of click shaving going on here, I was simply stating above that shaving hadn't come into the equation for this comparison. I am happy to say that my clicks and earnings are both up and are offering a direct link to the traffic I am receiving. EPC is up on Adscend today and is slowly rising as the US are coming out in force:

First full day almost over (in a few hours) and my EPC is relatively impressive in comparison to a non-mobile CPALead. I am hoping to regain my mobiles and have contacted CPALead - who are yet to respond despite saying they'd send an email of how to regain mobiles and I am yet to receive it - only then can I make a full comparison. I can speculate, however, my EPC's will not top that of Adscends USA EPC's.

I totally agree, I feel that I must develop my experiment before coming to any form of conclusion. CPALead has a range on IN offers and I've enabled CPALead for my Indian traffic to hopefully gain some form of revenue on that traffic.

I feel like the balance may lie in geotargetting scripts to display different widgets for different countries depending on the network providing the best EPC. I'll let you know how my experiments develop.

I had to register on the forum just to chip in with my findings.

I've also been a user of CPALead and have managed to bank over $50,000 with them in the past couple of months. Recently I have noticed a huge slump in EPC and earnings and because a lot of my traffic is UK high paying offers are just not available.

This morning I switched to Adscend and my earnings are so much better than CPALeads. I cannot provide any reports because it's far to early but I am very pleased with the results at the moment.

I too have made the gateway look identical to the one I was using on CPALead. I think the difference with Adscend's offers is they are much better than those available at CPALead.

I will be using CPALead for certain projects, I can't fault the network in terms of support, payouts and legitimate statistics. Both networks are great but currently the favor is with Adscend. I will try to update my findings later today.

 

ive had better results with Adscend Media too. But for some weird reason, im still using CpaLead.

Both companies have good and bad.

I did this experiment also and AM does make more with the same traffic.

CPAlead is way more customizable but I am going with what company makes me more money.

 

My Adscend stats are amazing at the moment. Will have more to report soon. I've not completed a full 24/7 with Adscend so can't really comment more. Today is looking awesome for me atm though with Ascend as opposed to CPALead.
