The posting on slashdot about the pokerbot tournament got me to wondering... any poker players in here? What's your game? I'm no good at seven card stud, but I get addicted quickly. I always win at a hold 'em table, and I'm a die hard fan of hold 'em with a high-low split. I used to be a blackjack dealer and I grew up partially in Vegas, so I've spent a ton of time in casinos. Career poker players are definitely an interesting breed. Poker dealers as well. Did you know that poker dealers are the only casino dealers that don't have a defined minimum taxable tip rate? Other dealers the government assumes make $x/day in tips, but poker dealers get to declare what they want the same as waiters used to. (at least it was that way the last time I worked in a casino). This equates to big $$ in no-taxable income, and it's one of the reasons that poker dealers tend to stick with a casino for 10+ years whereas turnover for most other areas is less than 2 years. That and they don't have pit bosses harping at them when they lose big money.
Texas here as well but haven't played in ages. Had a hell of a good 21st in Vegas, played occasionally since. But not in months now. So... When are we having a DP online game then?
Do you have a free poker room to suggest T0PS? I have never played online before so I'm curious if this is actually is a possibility.
Well, we won't be able to actually force others out I believe but you can go to any place like Ladbrokes, and then just meet in one of the empty rooms. Just organise a time, post the room in this thread for instance, and meet in that room/on that table. That'd be the easiest I guess.
I actually want to get some practice in before the tournament here and my Texas Holdem rules knowledge may be a bit rusty. I'd be interested in what they suggest (Free is best) as far as online play.
I can't play right now because apparantly my Firewall is blocking it. I think I will try from my other computer tonight when I have a bit of time. I don't won't to lower the settings as all my important stuff is on it. Cheers
Texas Hold Em... though I do enjoy a good game of Omaha & Omaha Hi/Lo. I play on PokerStars.com though not nearly as much as I used to... too busy with sites lately. If you guys do setup a yahoo game let me know. Edit: If anyone is looking a good place to learn or get better at Texas for normal games, sit-n-gos or Multi-Table-Tourneys (MTTs) is Flop Turn River. Some solid players on there. Very helpful. My best friend is on there and just went pro at the beginning of this year. He's crazy good now and learned a lot of it from that site.
That's 1pm my time... I could just take a late lunch. Just let me know for sure if that's when we'll play.
I will probably be on for quite a while as I need the practice for an upcoming event. I hate to say definately as things always seem to popup. I'll post here later though once I'm all set Cheers
