I just noticed that G has a new Ad Links format. Instead of listed vertically, they're listed horizontally. Not sure if anyone has tried it yet. Maybe it would be cool to place in between articles on a content page. Anybody else have any thoughts? -Cassie
Just put up a few today. They seem like a GREAT alternative. The question is, "How do they perform?" Has anyone seen a ton of clicks yet, or is it too soon to ask? We shall see real soon.
Well they will perform quite well if they look like this: Using a table to put 4 images above them: <table border="0" width="728" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <td width="118"> </td> <td width="154" align="left"><img src="img.gif" width="140" height="65"></td> <td width="162" align="left"><img src="img.gif" width="140" height="65"></td> <td width="153" align="left"><img src="img.gif" width="140" height="65"></td> <td width="149" align="left"><img src="img.gif" width="140" height="65"></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="5" width="728" height="5"><img src="shim.gif" width="728" height="5"></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="5" width="728"><img src="ad.gif"></td> </tr> </table> Code (markup): Now the "shim.gif" is a transparent gif which puts a 5 pixel space between the ads and the images, I added this as the images touch the top of the ad text if it is not there, and this just looks nasty. I have included all the files needed (ad images, shim, html) to do this... tell me how it goes, I may add it to my site to save some verticle space.
Will they allow this? Also these links require 2 clciks before you get credit. Going to be much harder to earn...
These new ads formats look great, can't wait to see how they doo. They don't look like ads at all. Hopefully they will have good CTR. And together with the images above ads like critters mensioned, it should be a very good CTR.
If its true that they are double click ads.. then it may not be such a good CTR.. time will tell Post results here pls
Anyone doing well out of either these or the original ad-links format? I haven't tried it yet, but I'm pretty keen to... Also, how many units are you allowed of these per page? Is it 3 like adsense?
I've already seen it on sites I'm visiting daily. I might incorporate the new format into my site. Should be a great addition!
I may do over the weekend... my CTR has been level for a bit.. so will show if it makes it go up or down.
I have already started using it! I guess it wont be as successfull as ad formats, this needs two clicks only in a rare case a visitor wishes to click more than one time!
I found these today as well and added some to one of my sites. They are nice, but would be great if "Ads by Google" was on the right side!
I dont think the double click ads are a way to go, unless you have a site where people are directly searching for a topic and cruising around.
