Scam! Pure and simple. Don't waste your money.

 

We get calls and letters all the time from hacks like that. Dont worry about it unless it is you confirmed registrar

 

Fortunately I've not had any telephone calls yet but I get scams like this in the post all the time.

most of the time cold calls are not a crime.

 

Yeah, they prbably can't be punished unless they actually take your money and you call 'em on it.

 

They are providing a service for the charge, if you agree to it, there is little to be done. I know verisign has gotten into hot water other the practice.
