Anyone know how the sites that sell mobile content through SMS (you text message a number like 59595 and they send you the content and bill through provider) work? What are the mechanics of the whole process, and how do you become a provider like that? Work directly with the mobile companies, or are there middlemen, etc.
They are called shortcodes. Short Code Numbers is one place and Common Short Code Administration is another. But google for Shortcode / short code and you will get a few more ideas.
