Am I the only person whose eyes hurt when trying to read white text on a black background?

(or on a red backround, etc)

Please...for the sake of my eyes...help!
    :)

    dvduval - I fully agree

bright text on black or any very dark background more than hurts the eyes - it somehow also hurts the heart !

it is a highly UNpleasant experience to surf such sites and i have a most efficient method - i strictly NEVER surf such sites no matter what their content about

when i click on a site with bright text on dark background - i close the window on go on with OTHER sites

Yes, me too...I just leave the site.
It seems to be especially prevalent among our youth. Geez...what the world is coming too these days! :)

It gets worse as you get older. Something happens around the 40 year mark-it's amazing what the eyes can't take anymore.

There's an option in Firefox to view the pages with black text against a white background ("no style" I think it's called). I find it really helpful, because the negative of that or any other weird color combination strains my eyes. And that's a teenager speaking - I don't even want to imagine what it's like for older people!

Usually amateurish sites use that style.
There's a reason why most pro sites don't use it! :)

Actually, it might work for some sites, maybe with very little text and for a more spectacular page, sometimes welcome pages are made like that and the rest of the site with most of the info in text is with a white background.

In other words, no, you are not alone! :D
