I was curious whether many of the bloggers here have parents who are online or at least use computers? A few of my friends and I had gotten chuckles out of some... unique... ways our parents have initially tried using email: Like, how much content can you put IN the Subject field in an email??!-- The answer is: quite a lot more than you'd imagine! Anyway, are your folks tech-savvy? Have they had challenges learning the new technology? Do they send you emails all in caps?
Mine are Always giving out about Computers saying that you only want to press buttons and do not want to work with your Hands
My parents or old relatives are close minded when it comes to technology. They grew up planting in the rice fields and doing heavy stuff in the provinces. I don't blame them for being like that instead I help them understand things.
When you teach them how to handle, they can maintain it. Like, I showed my mom how to use her mobile, and she is now using it properly.
Actually it depends upon the litracy ratio ,also hows their education and their family menber education .
My mum runs 2 businesses online, and my dad trades shares online (and blogs about it). They're both retired academics who are still sucking up the brain learningz.
Honestly they don't have a clue. It took me about 3-4 hours just to show my dad the basics of how to operate his computer running WinXP a few years back. Overall they're just very slow to pick up on things, but I suppose at their age I don't really blame them. When you lose touch with technology for 20 years, the stuff can be pretty overwhelming when suddenly there's a strange box in front of you doing things you never knew were possible lol.
