The ranking you see is likely not the real rating.

I am a bit sick of seeing it. If you are logged into your account then you are seeing an "adjusted" SERP. ie, you have to log out of your google account or use another browser to even hope of getting an accurate reading of your site's ranking. Even then you have to factor in Country and regional "optimizations" and the fact that Google is now serving adjusted results to anonymous IPs.

So please stop saying that you are ranked "x for term y" and then show a screenshot of you logged into your Google account as proof, because you aren't.

I think most of us on DP here, do know it very well that the results show different when you are signed in to your personal account. However you can also ask your friends or relatives who work on internet to go through the keywords and check the results of your position in google ;) :D

The SERPS won't be correct too in this case if they also have a personal account and have searched for this term before!

War, I know exactly what you mean, but, it's not going to stop. Just like all the questions that are
answered today and asked again tomorrow. It's just the way dp and some other forums are. We
    have to cope.

I was annoy at seeing it so I made a thread. I didn't mean for the mean for the thread to solve the world's problem. Just for one of two people to realize it, plus when I see it again I can just link to here.

"and you can't do anything about it.."
Yes you can, try loging out, that should give a rather accurate result since you likely will have never done a search for your site loged out before. Or you could use a random proxy.

No one knows the true ranking of a site but that doesn't mean we have to be wildly inaccurate.

now google webmaster tools gives your ranking like "position for keyword X 6 to 10" or page 1 2 3

to OP, do not really agree with you and you have to be careful when checking SERP.
    But
    1. If you check your SERP for a particular keyword about once a month you'll get accurate result. Well, I know many people on DP love checking their rankings everyday... honestly I don't see a point of doing that.
    2. Sometimes when I get results that look too good to be true I check on other computers, about 5 of them. For example, go to an internet cafe and ask a friend or two. And you get a better picture.
    3. I do use webmaster tool and if it says that my website ranking went down but my browser shows that it's up I safely assume the worst case scenario.

There're other options to find how your website ranks but that's what I do.

Yes, I have found this situation too.
Everytime when I meet such a situation, I feel confused because in my eyes, Google should show us an eternal search results. But when I use Google in Firefox browser, the results that Google shows me are wrong obviously.
Is this the effect of SearchWiki? I can't find the true answer.

As you said, the real rating is not seen unless we know the final google update or until we know the final google crawl the sites

Even if you signe out, you wont see the normal results if you do not enable your searching history.

I always ask my customers around the globe to confirm the rankings I see from their side. Mostly there is no or just a small difference.

Just adjust some proxy server software on one of your different browser and check your SERP rankings there itself....

It will make your job easy ...

Google cannot possibly be bang uptodate with serps, I tend to find that there current rankings can depend on information from a week ago (unless you have a very popular site, in which case google crawls more quickly.)

This is normal. Not much you can do about. Probably best option is to check your rankings via a proxy, with another browser which you don't use usually.

Don't forget to factor in the users hair color and height.
