Less than a cent a click ..

I think Google charges atleast 5 cents a click. I am surprised to find that for some of my pages I am getting less than a cent per click. So for over 1000 clicks per day on some pages .. I am getting less than $10 !!

Is this smart pricing ? Or Simply expected ?

    Your thoughts please.

Google gives only 20% of the amount it charges to the publisher, so minimum can be 1 cent

1000 clicks per day? Not bad. I think the more ad panels you have, the lower the payout per click.

I think Google gives you around 65%~75%.I don't think the 1 cent is generated by the click, probably from the CPM ads.

sometimes I get less than 1c/click too

I also had some AdWords campaigns where I paid 2c/click so it's normal for low paying keywords

Less than 1c a click wow, Ive never had under 10c a click on various websites, I agree with ian_batten though, I rekon the more ad panals the lower payout...

Also, filtering out "best site" websites, you can cut out the main bulk of low bid advertisers. Thread on this one somewhere else in more detail.

I don't think there is a lower limit of 5 cents a click. I think you've got adsense confused with YPN.

There is no limit of 5c ... advertisers can bid 1c per click if you like, it just means they get less impressions. I use adwords and have some campaigns set at 2c per click ... I still get impressions (and clicks). I reckon in these cases you would probably get less than 1c ...
FILTER OUT MFA sites and your earning per click will improve

better filter out low paying ads. You can do that in your adsense account.

Check the sites that are being displayed on your site. (Don't click on them directly, use adsense preview tool instead) If they are made for adsense filter them out.

0.01 clicks is the norm with some niches, especially those that are related to myspace, arcade, wallpapers, etc. If your traffic is over 1000 uniques per day try adding pop-unders, might lose some returning visitors though so do it smartly.

I've been seeing a big drop in price per click too. This seems cyclical but if I go back two or three years time, my pay out was much higher.

Good thing I no longer rely on AdSense for the bulk of my PPC revenue any more.

It must be due to invalid clicks: some clicks would therefore = $0.00 and the rest are probably just $0.01

What else do you rely on for ppc? I'm a noob, and didn't even know about adsense a year ago.

I have a Yahoo! Publishers Network account and I have used AdSonar in the past as well. There are several others out there, but I must admit that AdSense is still the best IMO.

Ah yes, invalid clicks...I didn't think of that one. I expect that would be your answer.

    Thanks for al the responses.

Yes I think I will now have to remove those MFA and other low paying advertisers. But please tell me ... will Google not show the highest paying ads on any page ... ? So when someone is paying 2c how does it get shown ? How can I benefit from removing a few advertisers ?

I use only adsense.. and I have been getting very decent amount every month .. though the average was always less than 5c. As someone said its cyclical and now I m getting less than 1c ... when it moves to 3c... my revenue from that page triples :) ... Prob with yahoo is that the ads are not relevant though the niche for my page is popular. Also I have this notion (probably baseless) that when I put YPN my google SERPs go down (completely baseless.. but I still have a feeling).

Popunders ? Do they pay high ? I never liked them but if they pay more than 5c its worth a look.
