Hello, on this site: http://april-calendar.com I tried to put all 3 adsense blocks above the page fold, as well as a few adlinks.
Still I can't quite get to my 5% CTR goal.
What do you think I could improve regarding ad placement? What would you do?

Hello, thank you for your reply, I already get some decent traffic but the CTR is not above 5% in any language (4 languages)

Give it some times and see how it converts, no one here is going to be able to guess or tell you exactly how to get 5% CTR, every site is different.

It's funny you ask after seeing the link in your sig...
Maybe if you added some text and other stuff in the date boxes it wouldn't look so bad. The ads stick out. You want them to blend in. The side bar need separated from the calendar (IMO) and maybe a solid header above them.

It looks great. Your adplacement is a little bit too much with the inline ads but who knows that might work out great for you.

Thank you all. It's true I'll have to analyze exactly how much CTR each banner gets in order to actu upon them.

There is nothing funny, I simply give my advices to adsense beginners. I don't consider myself to be an adsense beginners after years of using it, but I wish I would have had those advices when I first started, so that I wouldn't have wasted my time with small traffic sites with high CPC, but ultimately very low earnings..
As for the text in date boxes, I need to do that more that's true, I have already set up a database so that it is easy to add content within the boxes, in any languages. I already use it a little in may.

    Thanks again.

Maybe you could put historical things that happened on certain days in the box for those days.

There is nothing with the Ad placement as mentioned above.
You need to get good traffic. Start promoting your website.

Question: I noticed that you use the wikipedia post that has calendar and date info in it. Does this help for seo? I've never seen this before.

whatitdo: thank you for the suggestion, I'll see what I can do about it, my main problem is I don't want to work too much, because the task of entering historical facts is daunting. I could easily find a resource for that (like wikipedia) but then how to enter it in a database, I need to find an easy way, via php coding or outsourcing it.
mikejmu: This is an iframe, so I don't think it helps for SEO.
seo_no1: The CTR is not yet at 5%, that's why I ask for advice, usually I want a minimum of 5% CTR and then I stop optimizing ad placement.

Hi and thank you for taking the time to reply to my topic.
I been by your website today and I got to say I love the ad placements you have choseen.

First of all because they don't seem "in" the way but still there is ad link units in the calender itself.
How did you do the thing with google placed on your site is it through an iframe or ?

One of the things I really like about your site is that you keep the adsense ads in its normal colors and at the same time you used these blue and green and black colors in your menu and content so great work with blending :)
