I just received an infraction for making a post in the freebies section promoting my latest free ebook (which requires you to signup before you can read it). I checked some of the other threads in the forum to see if this was allowed and found a couple doing the same thing and there were no sticky threads saying I couldn't so I made my new thread and about an hour later I get an email saying I had received an infraction for the following reason: misleading, requires email address. you should of mentioned that. if you want to collect email addresses, don't use aweber. Now, I realise now that I should have stated that it required an email address (but once again, no rules that I could find saying I needed to to so), but the second half is the bit that shocked me... if you want to collect email addresses, don't use aweber. So I can collect emails as long as I don't use aweber? That doesn't make sense to me? So getresponse is ok, but aweber isn't? Can someone shed light on this, cause I am really scratching my head trying to work this one out!
if you want to collect email addresses for yourself, thats fine. setup something to collect these. middlemen such as aweber and getresponse are 3rd party and considered affiliates. thanks for the free offer but don't expose people's email addresses to these companies. its a potential spamfest. as for other people doing it, we just haven't caught up with them yet.
But Aweber IS the system I have set up to collect emails for myself. It is a reputable company that is known for it's anti spam nature. This quote seems to show a complete lack of knowledge on how these companies run. If I use Aweber to collect emails for myself I am the only person who is allowed to send emails to them. It's not like I collect and email and suddenly everyone who has an aweber account can contact them. Using a company like Aweber to collect my emails is no different than if I collected them individually from the people and used Outlook to send them emails.
i'm not going to argue with you. aweber and all the other companies people use to collect email addresses are 3rd party and considered affiliates. your not the only one to have their thread removed due to this. find another way.
Could you please explain this further? Aweber is the "something" that many of us use to collect emails. I pay a monthly premium for this service and I am the only one that has access to the email addresses that I collect. I know that you said that you did not want to "argue", but I don't think trying to get information and conversing about it is argumentative. I apologize in advance if you think that I am being argumentative, but I assure you that is not my intention. If Aweber is not acceptable, please explain what you mean by "setup something". Also, please explain how you think that Aweber creates a potential spamfest.
i'm not going to explain anything. find another way. if you don't like it, complain to someone higher then me. as for setting something up to collect email address, if you don't know what i'm talking about, o well.
I am shocked at this answer. I am not looking to complain to someone higher than you, but I would like to discuss it with somebody else. Could you please tell me how to get in touch with such a person, be it higher than you, or not? Thank you in advance.
your shocked? i guess you don't read some of TikTok's responses. in any case, find someone here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showgroups.php
Sorry for poking my nose here, but I noticed this thread right before posting a thread with Aweber campaign. sawz, can you please tell if we setup a email marketing software in our own site and use that to collect emails, will be okay with the rules? I mean, I'll setup that script on one of my own domain and use that to market different products on different domains. Will that be okay? @ iknowalittlebit, you can add that aweber campaign page at signature as affiliate/referral links are allowed in signatures.
The problem isn't with aweber but an Affiliate URL in the post, try to keep it in your sig and avatar buddy.
