Does Alexa Toolbar Helps getting better Alexa Rankings??

I m a bit confused, I have seen really good sites with High traffic but low alexa rank.
One of my friend recently Told me that Installing Alexa Toolbar will help increasing Alexa rank.
Is it possible??

alexa count a visitor to a site only if the visitor has alexa toolbar installed.if it don't have alexa toolbar installed,that visitor won't be counted in alexa ranking

 

If you ask this question two years ago, my answer would be absolutely YES.
But know It might be good way to inrease your Alexa rank, but not much as old days.

Please check r10.net whic is Turkish webmaster forum. Most visiters have alexa toolbar so this site has very good alexa rank.

 

Yeah if you have the alexa toolbar your site will be getting a good rank than those that have people that do not use it.

 

They are comercial company, so they get free advertising on your site by you suggesting to install it only to get that ranking - so, yes, it really depends.
For example, site with 20k visits/month, on alexa shows 1k, why - no-one uses that thing, proved!

 

Of course it does helps and you can see the results in 1 week.

Yes its essential to have an Alexa toolbar to have a good page rank on Alexa. people who don't have an Alexa toolbar always have a low page rank, I see it practically.

No. Your toolbar will not change your alexa-rank significantly. Only if your site have alexa-rank 40M+...

The answer is YES. Alexa is using their own toolbars for website access data then arrange the ranking. Everyone who do installed their toolbars, their usage will be collected by Alexa. That's why I always said Alexa cannot be used for website indicator or value estimator. This kind of ranking is easily to be manipulated.

 

Alexa rank is calculated by the number of visitors you have with an alexa toolbar, but if you get the Tbar and claim your site, it won't affect it. But if you don't claim your site it can help. Either way, no one takes any notice of alexa rank as it counts for nothing due to its' unreliability.
