MySpace - Change has to happen!

I've taken a discussion of MySpace and it's moderation into it's own thread... it all started here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=174598

MySpace can put things right but they have to get moving and add community based moderation and do some coding. Seems they're just standing still.

Have you looked at some of the profiles on there...last night I stumbled across a few of these gilrs who are into other girls and they have porn shorts full XXX rated on their profiles that any 10 year old could see.....

Explicit is an understatement....I would hate to see the backlash they would suffer if a media outlet of any repute found one of these profiles...the one girl had 10 different vids going....

I dont know if theyre standing still or just drowning and cant catch up.

I couldn't agree with you more. I haven't seen those but I've seen plenty that have been heading that way.

I'd like to see a system where bulletins and group messages can be marked as inappropriate. X number of marks and the bulletin is removed for moderation.

Profiles could also be marked as "adult" and you only see them in your search results if you've OK'd that kind of content.

Comments could be marked as inappropriate. If by the person who owns the profile then the comment would be sent straight to moderation. If by the general community then X marks and it's sent to moderation.

Don't get me started on the ads! But they should be getting revenue, they can pay for those moderators.

And that's just what I see as an uncommitted MySpace user - www.myspace.com/itamer

Thats the crux....nobody at Myspace thought of this?? Well they were young however someone at news corp should have been able to see the problems headed right at them and now they're in an almost impossible task of cleaning up their act...

Most are so greedy they can't let loose of the almighty dollar to get things right....however that same greed usually comes back to bite them in the arse....

I can see Myspace getting into big problems very soon. I can think of 11 very good points to sue myspace and win very easily and i bet you someone is going to get benefit of that. Someone is going to take myspace to court very soon. It may be me or may be someone else. I am just pissed off on the replys i am getting for my problems. Its plain horrible and i am not taking that anymore  So.............

Yep, I can see them either having a total ban on adult images of any kind - strictly enforced and policing the reported profiles better.

They also need to sort out their servers, I get errors a lot of the time.
