Hey All: Today, on one of my sites (computerparts_dot_cc) I have four clicks, and the total for these clicks is $0.00. Since there's only been one visitor to my site today, I was able to isolate the IP address: it was a visitor from China. So, what's the story here? U think the AS algo determined that clicks from this particular region of China should not pay anything? Or are there even bigger geopolitical forces at work here? Hmmm.... AmCy
Four clicks, one visitor? Maybe the clicks were invalidated due to suspected click fraud. Seems more likely to me.
I considered that but I don't think so. I checked my server and those four clicks were the only clicks by a person @ that IP on my entire network of sites. So if someone discovers my site and decides to check out 4 different ads, this would hardly be enough reason to invalidate the clicks, if you see what I mean. If it were 20+ clicks on the same site then I would say OK. But 4 clikcs? No way. I've seen more than 6-8 clicks from the same IP on more than one of my credit cards sites and they've never been invalidated. AmCy
Maybe google has found that numerous click fraud, using software or other means has occured to other adsense members, adwords campaigns etc, coming from the same Chinese IP in the past, and that IP address has been banned from google towards giving any adsense member click earnings ?
"bluegill_catcher" "noppid" "dejaone"--thanks for your comments; these are all very plausible reasons why the clicks were invalidated, reasons I had not considered. Although, on my site, there's no way a PSA can show, since I use ALT banners on every site I own. Every day it seems I'm learning something new and useful about AS. I think I'm almost ready to write a book! AmCy
This is usual I think. For me clicks from india get lowest revenue while clicks from US gives best. Similalrly google have done something to china and clicks from there won't generate revenue.
But if an AW advertiser doesn't want to pay for any traffic from China, the advertiser can simply refine the targeted countries for a given campaign. Therefore, the ads shown to a Chinese visitor to my site should all be ads that pay, shouldn't they? AmCy
Depends on how the implimented the filter. I know some ppc feeds show the ads anyway, and some don't. I know in their domain park program they show them, but pay very little if at all. For adsense you would think they would show a PSA if no paying ads are present for the viewer, but maybe they still show them anyway instead of a psa. Guess if we found a chinese proxy we could run some text and figure out just how they handle it for sure.
Chances are that they use a rating system like SpamAssasin. The fact that they clicked 4 times AND come from china probally set the score over the threshold.
Maybe not, if there are not enough ads related to the terms on your page public service ads will show. How many people would enable Adwords content to show in China...not many I would think. In a similar vein my adsense revenue since Friday has dropped by approx 90%.....somethings not right.
I think there's alot of guess work here. I've got a China based site and attract Chinese visitors and my PPC is as high as if it was from any other country...
I think so. I have a problem with clicks from china. I'm disapointed as it represents a lot of traffic for me..... See following thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1381439
