I think Trust Rank will be the successor of Page Rank. :)

trustrank or pagerank - doesn't really matter to me...

i'm just curious though, if trustrank is really replacing pagerank, will there be a new toolbar (or indicator) that displays trustrank?

Trustrank doesn't read to me like something that can replace pagerank. It could be used in tandem to improve upon pagerank.

I agree with you. If I undersdtand TR idea correctly, TR allows sitewars. Bad Site link alot to Good Site and Good Site TR is falling.

Yeah. I can see all the folk with those link farms they built up linking to the competition to drive their trust rank into the toilet ;)

I’m not sure I agree that links from ‘bad’ sites will affect a good site negatively. I think the higher rule, “your competitor can do almost nothing to hurt your rankings” will still prevail.

That said, if you receive links from a bad site, and if you reciprocate, I think this would clearly affect your trustworthiness.

On the other hand, I think logic would dictate that links from ‘good’ sites are always good, regardless of whether or not they are reciprocated. In fact, my guess is that reciprocating a good site link would lessen the amount of trust that flows to your site.

/me makes a massive link farm to link to every single page on microsoft.com. ;)

We know that the pagerank algorithm itsself is about as good as you can get but Google needs a better source of data. Trustrank is just PR using human rating instead of # of backlinks.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Softgroups tell me what is the purpose of bumping old threads up lol.

On topic: Trustrank I think is just a future plan of Google in case PR gets out of control.
