The idiots on DP that BS through their teeth

Discussion in 'General Chat' started by ye.zero, Nov 4, 2006.

Lately on DP, I've read a lot of threads similar to the ones below:

"Hi, I have a page rank 7 website, how do I increase it to PR8?"

"My site brings in 20,000 unique visitors a day.. how do i bring in more?"

    etc. etc. etc.

Now the thing is, these people never supply their site URLs in their thread, and simply ignore requests by others for it. Why? Because most of them simply DO NOT have such a site - it's all BS.

The three main reasons for them doing so are:

    1. They feel empowered when posting outrageous statistics and get a thrill from others congratulating them on their success

    2. They feel superior when others start asking them for help to achieve a similar goal.

    3. Attempting an indirect sort of 'presell' to generate interest in their SEO services later down the track.

Well, those are simply my thoughts about this issue, what about yours?

My thoughts are you should just ignore those threads. You come across morons in every walk of life.

    1. You posted this in the wrong section. What does this have to do with Google?

    2. I run certain sites that I don't want tied to me. For example. If I run a forums and I am asking in the forum management section here at DP "How to demote a mod" with my forum url in my sig or in that post, how will I explain to the mod the post they just found as a backlink? Not everyone wants to plug all of their sites everywhere they go. Look at your sig, you have NO urls there. Why? Doesn't matter, you didn't want to link your site, and they don't either. Not that I'm saying their always telling the truth, but it goes both ways.

They may very well be lying but not posting a url is not proof of that. There are dozens of URL's I would never list here and a handful I have. If I say "I have 20k hits a day" and you say "what is the url" please tell me what reason you want to go there? I very seriously doubt it is to bookmark another site to read daily and more likely to find out what I'm doing and try to duplicate it. Thanks but no thanks, I have already been robbed 50000 times on the internet and see no reason to make it 50001.

I could show you a friends site right now that does $2000 to $5000 / day in adsense and takes about 2 hours per day of his time. The site is a whopping 1 year old and was making decent money from the first month and only increased from there. While I would love to share it and talk about how he did it I don't because I know 100 copycats would be up tomorrow and instead of finding their own niche market to go after they'd just try to copy his. I could ride his coattails as well but don't do it out of respect. He trusted me with his stats and I won't share the how and what with anyone nor use it myself.

It is a fact. It's a silly little niche blog with thousands of loyal readers and well over $1 per click ads. It has also made it into many news publications without the owner trying to get it there. He only makes a few posts per day so 2 hours was probably on the high end of time invested though.

    What does it account for?...

It's the internet, no one knows solid concrete proof over swiss cheese lies...

Just ignore them, if they have the need of boosting their ego, then let them be.

Are you nuts or just pretending to be? The only reason any WEBMASTER would request a url is to see if they find something they want to copy. Once you put an income earned on a site and give the URL you have just opened yourself up to hundreds or thousands of competing sites. So duh, I won't give you the url out of respect for someone that makes their living on the site.

I will give you a hint though

The site reviews products that people want. It is at the top of the SE's when people search for those products. The adsense ads that display on his pages are selling DUN DUN DUN you guessed it the products he reviews. It's not a complicated concept and being that they are higher priced items the ads pay very well.

truthfully my site (i only "own" 1) is a pagerank 0, gets 25 visitors a day (me and the occasionaly friend), i choose not to lie, i have Joomla! setup still earning my way around it. You really shouldnt pay attention to what some people say on anything some lie and have no idea what there talking about, but this forum is a great resource for those looking for information on creating a website and how to make money outta of it. (If what i said makes no sense then its because im a little drunk.. well not al little just well yeh im drunk as hell)

I find your post rather strange considering the challenge that you started and claim to have won.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=172734

You have many posters, (on the other thread), asking what your URL is; to maybe prove some of your claims.

So, to answer this post, my thoughts are you 'challenge' looks a lot like #1, #2 and/or #3 to me.

I honestly believe that if you're making $2,000 to $5,000 per day, then displaying your URL isn't going to hurt anything.

To act like most of these "DP'ers" could really replicate a massive website making big money seems unlikely.

I forgot about that thread...Originally he had started multiple threads and they were all merged by Mods into the one.

I think this thread is more jealousy that people are pulling the same trick as him and stealing away some of his attention.
