I'm thinking of promoting this product through a review site. Problem is I'm stuck on which domain to use. productname.net and productname.org are both available but productnamereview.com and productnamescam.com are also available. Considering I'm going for the organic approach (ranking for the product name in google), which out of the domains above would you choose for a review site? I think both names, with or without the appendments, have their own good points. The first two domains would probably make it easier for me to rank for the product name, possibly also "product name review" and "product name scam". I don't know, but with productname.net/.org, I feel there's that added risk of the visitor thinking, "productname.net/.org? could this site be related to, or have a connection to productname.com? could this just be a cheap attempt to convince me to buy the product?" Visitors could very well be thinking the same thing about productnamereview.com, but probably to a lesser extent. It's just, who really goes to the extent of buying a domain and building a site from the ground up to review a product, when they can easily review it on a free blog? (from a visitors perspective) What's your say?
Keeps things simple, do not over assume things... , if i were you, i would go with productname.org. Visitor hardly care about .org domains. Most of my review sites are .org. for some reason, my .org domains rank better than .com/.net.
Buy all 4, and put different content on all 4. Link them to each other, and build a little network and dominate the serps.
Yes.org should be fine - I would get productname.org and then just make it clear on the site that it is a review, you should get traffic from bot the review keywords and the normal product name this way. .com would be better ideally but does not make too much difference.
I think youre probably overthinking it a little too - either is fine really, I think you will rank easier for .. review if you get the domain with review in it, but if you put that in the H1 title, or in the title tag then you will be able to rank very easily still anyway - if you plan to actually fo a little work on the sites and build backlinks to them then I would go for a domain as short as possible without review on the end.. just my personal preference - think it looks more proessional, but I don't think it matters either way really.
yes. from my personal experience. it's not important whether it is .net / .com / .org. people are simply do not bother about the domain. what is essential is the information they are looking for. so i vote for productname.org / .net
If "scam" is part of the ecuation prepare for high % refunds and get the productname.net and make subcategories /review /scam bla bla bla. Anyway, looks like wasted time to me, every time i'm happy that i sold by mistake some make money ebook from an ancient link the refund comes
