Another round of bans going on
Some people just AIM'ed me telling me there site got dumped by YPN and I got scared to the point I just took off YPN from my site as I do have a few sites that target teens and young people.
Anyone here get the dreadful YPN Call/Email? |

in my experience it's ridiculously easy to be reinstated into YPN. maybe it's because I'm a high volume publisher or something, I don't know, but I had my account closed then reopened within 24 hours.

So you had gotten the call that your account has been terminated and you were reinstated? Or was your account simply suspended for a TOS violation or similar and then reinstated?

If someone posts about betting kicked off YPN ill believe it. I don;t think there are more people being banned now than ever.
There was the myspace banning of March/April 2006 but that was awhile ago and I dont think yahoo is banning myspace publishers anymore. |

That sucks
I guess the problem is teens don't convert well for yahoo advertisers since they do a lot of clicking and not much buying. On the plus side, you get to keep most if not all of your money that you earned up to the point of termination. |

Whats sad is that YPN was advising one of my friends as to which categories would produce him more income, and now he's banned from YPN. This is a little goofy.

Somehow I doubt Yahoo would give such advise to tell user's which categories would make them the most money.

I can understand Yahoo's issue. I do some CPA stuff like the Free Ipods and other freebie stuff and that still converts super super bad for me. I know it's 2 different ad models but it's all about conversion and for me conversion was bad and so the advertisers must of been upset as well.

I believe so Fryman. Yahoo is pretty good about paying the webmaster for the good clicks unlike Google.

Jeremy I don't think so. The people I chatted to own huge myspace resource sites that get 100k uniques a day and they have been reported to before.

Jermy860, I know most of them, and no they are not. They actually run pretty legit sites - most of them are ranking very well and have been around for a while.
I run a few teen targeted sites and the first thing I did before even adding any ad code to my site was I targeted specific catagories. If you don't you will automatically get the highest paying ads which can be real estate, medical, etc. Displaying those types of ads with lots of traffic/clicks is an accident waiting to happen. People will start threads pointing it out and yahoo will need to take action (remember articpros site screen shots?). Target things teens might want. Clothing, gaming, accessories, beauty products. Common sense you know? With that being said I am sort of happy to see YPN removing sites that are serving up extremly high volumes of irrelevent ads. Despite this being an issue with ad delivery on yahoos end, people need to be aware of this and target catagories relevent to their sites niche, target audience, and content. |

Do you think targeting education ads would be alright? I've thought it would since alot of myspacers seem to be high schoolers that are graduating soon and going to college.... I might be wrong though.

Well said. Nothing else more that I could add.

IMO, those won't covert any better than Life Insurance ads.

i agree with this statement, although the nice folks at ypn did suggest categories to help me tweak ad targetting when i first started to get the most relevant ads to show on my site. months later, i removed that as their contextual targetting improved and more relevant ads started to show.
