Often we here people tell their opinions of what makes a good directory, link farm, etc. I would like to take this opportunity to point out some directories that deserve a little recognition of their own. First, you must reference the homepage of VMOptions. Please read our nice welcome note that we have at the top of the page. Now, you must take this opportunity to view the homepages of the following directories and read their welcome text: http://linkmill.net http://bestwebdirectory.co.uk More can be found here, most of which have an old cache. Coincidence? I think not. Let this be a lesson to all of us that work hard on our sites. Our brand is as important as the time and money we invest in it. Always keep an eye on those that lack creativity and try to piggy back an ounce of success off your hard work.
This is ridiculous! I sincerely believe that others have copied FROM VMOptions...I feel sorry for aspiring directory owners that cant even write a single phrase on their own and claim to be editor-reviewers.
It looks like *caugh*advertisement*caugh*! But shame on webmasters, it is not that hard to make short description.
Seriously! this is the shameful. In directories, few people come up with something unique & most of the others copy it....
A lot of the newer directory owners dont care about being unique and are just in it thinking they can make a quick buck.
http://linkmill.net/ http://bestwebdirectory.co.uk/ Both these directories look very good Owner just need to change the text and keep the uniqueness.
Could be worse snowbird, I've got some scuzzy company trying to destroy one of my best link bait articles by posting it all over the net, editing the part they don't like and adding a link to their own site. Spent 2 weeks sending out DMCAs. Might want to give that a try or rewrite to something better. Either way, it sucks when people steal your hard work.
And let me guess, cutting your finger off to cash in on a $2000 dismemberment insurance policy is a great way to make some spare change too? I'm sorry that my post went over your head. The idea behind it was a little public humiliation for the directory owners that are too lazy to write a simple paragraph - not self promotion. + red from me @ YMC I thought about sicking an attorney on them, but chances are the owners don't have two nickles to rub together anyway. However, I did do some removals/bans from the directory list to make sure they don't get any traffic from this point on. That's the least I could do.
Did anyone read this blog post yet? http://www.dirjournal.com/blog/directory-journal-attracts-design-thieves/ The newbie directory owners can't be original so they have to copy off old quality directories.
It is a disgrace. But some people don't have a second thought about taking what belongs to others. I had a company that I 'partnered' with. He was so paranoid about people stealing his software. Yet he stole half of my stuff. There are a lot of low-lifes out there. In the end, they get their due. /*tom*/
Sucks when that happens Snowbird, but it's about par for the course. Been there, done that. Plagiarism stinks. Btw - Hasn't that dismemberment price for a finger gone over $2000 yet? I got $1300 for one digit off the index finger (I wisely chose the top one) back in '76. On the bright side, I'm the only guy in the room that can give you an accurate hand signal to tell you when it's 1:40.
