First: Having two successive ad units is not in violation of Google's TOS

Second: Images and ads are still a gray area. Ideally, pictures should have a visible border and be related to the ads that they are placed next to.

    No, it's not ok.

As explained again and again by many people on other threads, the current guidelines from AdSense Support require a border (such as a clearly visible line, or different background color, etc.) between ads and images.

not a problem, i bet. you got to also see if whether that page has any content. If there's only these two ads and nothing else, it is against the TOS, IMO.

I think it is ok. Have seen a quite a few sites that have images placed next to AdSense to attract attention to the ads.

Yup - put a thin line or two between the pix and the ads, and (of course) have more content on the page. Everything should be fine.

Interesting choices of pix, by the way. Ambiguous but interesting.

One problem I see is that AdSense likes to put either 1, or 2, or 3 ads in the 336x280 large rectangle. Then the pictures don't line up, and it does not look so great.
I guess that it is OK, if that doesn't bother you. It bothered me a lot, so I pulled the photos from the 336. The same happens on other squares and rectangles. Keep checking to see what you are getting.

I cannot see any term or condition which states it is against adsense TOS

You may see the links on my previous post (#7) for the current guidelines on images from AdSense Support, and their interpretation of the program policies.

Basically, we need a differentiation between ads and images, with some kind of visible border, etc.

in my opinion, its okay, might want to put i little bit of a border around the image to stop people saying it
