Google Caffeine is crap

Everyone is so concerned with where their rankings are in Google caffeine but did anyone actually stop to notice that the results are actually crap? I've found while checking where I rank for certain keywords that some of the ranking pages are SO irrelevant. I've no idea why they are even there.

I've attached an example for an important and competitive keyword.

Has anyone else noticed this? If you compare with the old google results they're much more relevant.

    That's awesome, I wasn't aware of the comparecaffeine.com site.

I've heard that the new algorithm will favor stuff like social bookmarking more, and I noticed that a couple of my niche sites have jumped in rankings (like from #10 to #4 and #2 to #1). So I'm a fan of Caffeine so far :)

Ya I posted that on my blog... Caffeine results are crap. You have 75% of page 1 take up by twitter feeds, google maps, shopping results, and adwords.

Looks like google nailed this one... or at least made bing a lot happier.

Its not just that they're clouded by all that clutter, the actual webpages returned by the search seem to be random, irrelevant results. Nothing like the google we expect. Not all of it is like that, but there are certainly many random pages that should never be ranking for these keywords. Especially not the high traffic, competitive keywords I've been checking.

The site returned in my example in my first post is TOTALLY unrelated to the keyword. None of the four keywords are featured in the title, the text of the site or the URL. I've never seen such an inaccurate results from Google before. And certainly not for such a competitive and important keyword.

I think most of the crap that is coming up though is Googles bouncing. It happens everytime an update is happening. Crap results get tossed in.... even sites that do horrible blackhat techniques. Eventually they filter down.

Perhaps but I've seen these kind of crap results ever since they made Caffeine available for preview on some datacenters. I wouldn't want to make it available for the public to preview if it was coming up with results like that. Even Yahoo would be assumed of those!

I think that after a few months everything will go back to 'normal'. Don't worry about it too much.

I've noticed alot of irrelevant results since around early september 2009, thats when it started for me (google.co.UK). The results are often so random I try searching in speech marks to find what I am looking for. I hope they fix it at some point sooner rather than later

Let's be clear here, I'm talking only about the results in caffeine. Google up until now has been great for me and I see good relevant results in on the 28th page for keywords. I think the message I'm looking to send to Google is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"....
