I just saw a 468x60 AS banner on one of my sites. The URL it was pointing to was a free GeoCities_dot_com website. Heh. That's a first for me. I really don't care but I would think that G would disallow pointing to free sites like the ones GeoCities offers.

I'm with you, I don't care as long as the money comes in :)

However, if they have the money to spend on adwords, why not buy a domain?

It seems like Google is much more flexible in what they accept for AdWords compared to AdSense. There aren't as many restrictions and they don't need to pre-approve any of the ads.

Of course. They are the customers and are paying for it.

Why should Google disallow it? They don't care where the sites are hosted.

Reliability. I don't think G wants an AW banner to point to a site that's slow or may be down for maintenance too often. Just my opinion.
