I hope its the end of Dmoz.
Its full of broken links and Editors will add only what they like, there are so many very good sites not listed and never will.
80% of the Categories have no editor and 40% have not been edited in 12 months.
Dmoz died and i hope it never comes back!
I can talk as i was Editor for MusicMoz for 18 months then left as i was the only one doing a proper job!

You rejoice prematurely. I have predicted DMOZ's official demise for June 2009.

I agree that it is moribund. On life support.

Which is 1000000 times better than affiliate travel agents adding what they like.

And so many very good sites that are listed and always will be. Did you know that even with its mighty technological resources, Google is still incapable of indexing every site, so one presumes that includes many very good sites.

No, just the hamster died, and after the Admins have eaten the remains a new one will be obtained from a reputable local pet shop. They don't live long you know, particularly when you only feed them on Spam.

So can most people over the age of 2 to 3.

Rumors are the Admins are considering upgrading to squirrels. They're faster and they can handle nuts. We're waiting for an announcement.

 I thought the Adult branch didn't need any more encouragement. Or do we have an Anglo/American difference of English linguistic intepretation?

Isn't this breach of Communication guidelines? You have revealed very sensitive internal business informations. ;)

BTW I think squirrels hibernate during the winter? Maybe upgrade was already done but nobody thought of that and now they will sleep until spring. :)

It is a DMOZ rule that you should never undertake a risk assessment so you could be right there. On the other hand squirrels are not as mild mannered as hamsters and there were several reports this summer of attacks - see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2415095.stm - for an incident in the English town of Knutsford (and yes, the K is silent). In Russia they killed a dog apparently - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4489792.stm. Perhaps this isn't so much hibernation but a bloodbath in the DMOZ server room.

    This isn't true.

Fact remains, submit something that is actually worth being listed in DMOZ and you wouldn't have to go on like this.

It will be listed in no time :)

Here's a wave (from yesterday) back at you - see more (including the Colorado snow storm being reported on CNN) on my live halloween webcam - just be warned that the guy on webcam3 picks his nose sometimes ... ;-)
