I don't think so, too cheap to be true and there is no info about ICANN on the site.

Can't be. Network Solutions takes something like $5.70 a year as their cut for a *.com. Unless somewhere in there they make you buy hosting.

    edit: They're not listed: http://www.internic.net/alpha.html

Thanks for the replies. I agree that it would be risky to do business with this company and won't do it.

But now, after looking at the link to the list of accredited registrars, I've found websites of several other domain sellers that aren't on the list either. If a company isn't on the list, does this mean that it isn't legitimate? Or could it be an affiliate of a company that is on the list?

Only ICANN-accredited registrars in that list can truly register domain names.
But people can "resell" for them.

In this case, instant-deploy seems to be a reseller for registrar Name.com.

But if Instant-Deploy is a legitimate reseller, how can they charge prices below their own cost? I still don't understand this.

Simple: they are risking a loss to win your business. If you're happy with them
when it's time to renew, they'll charge their "regular" yet higher prices.

Nowadays various businesses adopted the model of selling low upfront, then
charge higher at the backend. If you bought a roundtrip airline ticket for $300
only, they might charge you a $150 fee to change your flight.

That said, I'd suggest you register your domain name with an actual registrar
like Name.com or whoever. Although you'll pay higher, you'll cut out the middle
    man if issues arise.

Search around for some coupons with registrars like Go Daddy or whoever. But
be ready to pay more when it's time to renew.

    Good luck and good hunting.

Kindly don't go ahead with it, it's simply a reseller site which might and probably will disappear somewhere along the line leaving you with nothing on your hands. I registered a domain with one of these sites a couple of years ago. When time came to renew, I found the company had disappeared and my domain showed as unavailable for almost six months after that. Choose a regular registrar like name.com or bigdaddy. It's not much to pay for if you're going to start a site which earns even decent revenue.

I would only go with an accredited registrar.. it simply isn't worth the risk otherwise to save a few bucks a year.

Alright here's the deal (although this thread is little older).

Upon researching a bit about Instant-Delpoy, I found out that domains registered with them have 'Key Systems' as their registrar in their whois record. I checked out the their site (www.key-system.net) who happens to be a ICANN approved German registrar by name 'Key-Systems GmbH' which can be confirmed here: http://www.internic.net/alpha.html

    Some Links:
Check the FAQ of key systems for becoming a registrar with them: http://www.rrpproxy.net/faq.php
    Their main site: http://www.key-systems.net/index.php?id=33&L=2

So all in all, it looks to me that people who have issues with them might try contacting key-systems for help. For test purposes and unable-to-control-myself-seeing-prices I registered one domain with them just now. (It's yet to be activated!) Let's see how it goes :)

$10 is the usual price so for a price that low I would say no, however it does have a ssl cert so I'm not sure

They would make no profit from it and so it seems unlikely.
