I wonder writing articles and posting it on article websites like ezeline etc, how can it help increasing the traffic ? Is there any other advantage for SEO for this ?

Firstly, you need to leave a link back to your site in the article. Insert it in the article body or insert it in the source. That is how you get traffic with article maketing. And mostly, people will use articles as link bait. If your article is good, others will reproduce it in other sites. And the links you inserted would be spreaded.
You can get quality backlinks, by which I mean the content must be very relevant to your niche, and relevancy is something Google values very much. Some aritcle website has high PR and are well-indexed, so when people search for certain stuff, your article can be found easily, then they may click your links in the article,you'll get your traffic then.
When you post articles on article directories like Ezine Articles, it not only increases targeted traffic but helps with SEO due to the high page rank of these directories. Pick 10 or 12 out with good page ranks, post articles to them often, and you will see after a few months that your site starts ranking higher. Leave comments on related blogs as well, with a link back to your pages.
So, it's the back links..cool.. is it okay to post same article to different directories..I mean the duplication...also could you suggest some best 10 or 12 article directories ?
If you do correct Article Marketing then not only you can drive huge traffic, but you will have pre-sold that traffic and they're already in the buying mood, thus will buy your product.

When you will submit Article to Article Directory there are option to put your website link in the author resource section you are allowed to put two links there by this you will get back link for your website which is very profitable for SEO. When some one will read your article they will click on your link which you already put author resource section they will redirected to your website by this you will gain targeted traffic
you can get a back link from article body and two from author bio...........................then you will have three link for 3 of your web pages........................will give you higher rankings.....................
articles can be used to place your target anchor text. Also, if the articles are interesting, they will generate traffic.
