edu extension domain

    How do I get an .edu extension domain name ?
    I tried enom but wasnt there.

    The .edu extension is only for educational institutions.

    In fact the criteria for .edu have undergone major flip-flops:
    US only, or worldwide
    Accredited only, or anyone who thinks they are edu
    etc
    In every major flip-flop several undeserving sites managed to corner a .edu
