Making money with AdSense - 7 fast secrets reveals how to triple your AdSense revenue

Making money with AdSense was my dream for years and years...

... And for the longest time, I couldn't make scratch with Google AdSense -- until a few months ago that is.

And yesterday (and already today) has been a record day for me. This is VERY exciting.

I kept hearing AdSense was dead, but I knew a few people who bank a lot of AdSense income (whitehat, too).

So a few months ago I tracked down the most successful AdSense sites and reversed engineered them. I also went to every AdSense-related forum and tried just about every suggestion.

Most of the ideas sounded good, but didn't produce any big difference. But a few ideas made really big differences.

So I put together my top 7 secrets to make more money with AdSense below.

Try 'em out... reply to this post and tell me how you made out. You can expect most of these techniques to pay off almost instantly. Some take a few weeks:

    Use this AdSense template
You can choose from 12 AdSense templates to display, but the pros find the 336-pixel by 280-pixel (large rectangle) ad size generates (by far) the highest number of clicks per 1,000 visitors.

Changing to this size gave me the biggest instant boost in AdSense revenue.

    Move your AdSense template
There's a direct connection between the placement of your AdSense ads and your click thru rate.

When AdSense ads are placed next to “content zones” (rather than in “advertising zones), you typically generate more clicks (which pays you more Google AdSense revenue).

The content zone is located just above the beginning of your content. Most of your webpage visitors are blind to AdSense ads placed in the traditional spots like your nav bar. However the same ads displayed above your content usually gets clicked more often.

Change up your title for higher AdSense revenues
AdSense robots often use the title of your webpage to determine which ad to display. So editing the title on your webapge is often the difference between making a few pennies per click on your AdSense ads to generating over 50 cents (or even a dollar) per click.

For example, take a look at these similar phrases:

    - DIY home surveillance
    - do it yourself home security

Both of these keyword phrases seem the same... but the difference is Google advertisers are willing to pay almost 170 times more for webpages themed for "do it yourself home security" (average of $8.47 per click) than "DIY home surveillance" (at 5 cents a click).

This boosts your AdSense revenues at least 300%
Did you know AdSense for Search is MUCH more profitable than AdSense for Content?

I insert a Google AdSense search box at the bottom of my webpage (just below the end of the content area)... and each click typically generates 538% more of the eCPM (effective cost per thousand) compared to standard AdSense templates.

    Kick out deatbeat advertisers
AdSense now gives us the ability to delete the worst-performing advertisers in just a few mouse clicks.

It's called "Category Filters"... you find it within your AdSense account here:

AdSense Setup --> Ad Review Center

Google AdSense displays "Filtered Categories" and (relatively) up-to-date statistics... revealing the best-performing categories (and the worst).

AdSense helps us eliminate categories that are unprofitable. For example, 8.7% of my ads displayed "Get Rich Quick" advertisers... but my "% Recent Earnings" was 0.0%. That told me I was showing ads that didn't pay me a single cent. So I checked it off, clicked the [Submit] button... and those unprofitable ads are not going to display on my webpages anymore.

Blend your AdSense ads with your design
We all know our website visitors HATE ads. It's called "Ad Blindness." Most even use ad blockers to avoid ads.

Instead, have your AdSense ads blend in with the theme of your webpage. And skip the borders... this lets your visitors know that you're displaying ads -- not good.

    Target the less intelligent
A new study by Chitika.com reveals the way a person arrives from a search engine to your site helps us understand how they click on our AdSense ads.

This is a bit confusing at first... read this slow:

People who search by clicking the button on Google’s homepage are 50% more likely to go on to click ads on your page than people who search by any other Google means, according to online ad network Chitika.

For example, if Scott Johnson searches Google.com for "lose belly fat" and finishes his search clicking the [Search] submit button on Google.com, Scott Johnson is 50% more likely to click on your AdSense text ads than by searching only using the [Enter] key.

Why? SEO expert Rand Fishkin thinks that sophisticated web surfers are searching without clicking Google's [Search] submit button -- saving a step. On the flip side, less-sophisticated searchers are clicking the search button -- and clicking on our Google AdSense ads.

Bottom line: Tweak your webpage's theme to target rookies, not sophisticated search users.

    Thanks for the kudos, Wrik.

Yep, I've tried every AdSense tip ever"invented" by the gurus. Most are just pure guesswork.

The best tips I've ever tried came from unknown bloggers.

This is a popular line although its not true. Its only a half true. Let me explain with a question......You know who says that the 336by280px google ad gets the most clicks per 1000 visitors?

    "An Owner of a blog........"

And of course they do best because they can hide them in the content, but the 336by280px isn't the best for other types of sites.

Nope. You realize the tip you are giving here? You are telling everyone that how to make more money in adsense is to trick vistors by hiding the ad.
Thats the worst thing you could do and will drop the click payment becuase those who were fooled will just back their browser as people know that it was annoying that they clicked somewhere and it was an ad.
Now you have a 1second ad visitor which equals a 01cent click and you have a visitor who was in your site and was tricks by some spam crap at your site.

The way to make some good money is to have visitors who see the ad and think "man, I'm going to check that site out" then they click in it. This is called a quality click. Where they had no problem with your site, but wanted to see something in the ad.

Of course there's the risk of becoming weaker in the serach engine rankings if you dump your main keyword through your title. I wouldn't risk this if you have crazy competitors becuase its really hard to get ahead when google has chosen who should be on top.

boo. Search Adsense runs typically about 30% for a regular site. You obviously mean "BLOG".

Its about time you got something I can work with. Yes, this is a good thing, but careful not to eliminate too many or your site will be out fishing for ads.

Blending is only one method. Sticking out is good too depending on the site. I have this site where all of my ads are ridiculously noticable and it makes about $600us per month. I don't think you are correct.

Throughout this whole article you clearly are trying the trick the public to get more money with adsense through clicks but you really need to learn that if you do that you sacrifice any "QUALITY" clicks and traffic that you'll get. Most of these tricks get you more clicks but they lose you traffic, popularity, and make visitors go away from your site forever. It's no good man!

    Dude...

    ... I appreciate your feedback.

I also read your other post. You offer good tips.

However let me cut to the chase. I'm getting more than 100 times the AdSense revenue using my techniques.

I've been testing these techniques on a single webpage using basic split testing. After split testing one of the techniques, I'd move onto another split test. I did this for about 3 months. It was a LOT of hard work. And it's really paying off.

    And it's all whitehat.

Before I started split testing, I was averaging 75 visits to this test web page. After split testing I'm averaging close to 200 visits (all I did was tweak my title and it's getting more clicks from Google).

At the same time, I've gone from generating a penny or two per day to over $2.00 a day.

I continue to test different things. Some will lose. Some will make no difference. And some will be triples and home runs.

And I'm scaling out... clearing my schedule to produce one new article every business day.

I think most here would be THRILLED to go from a few pennies a day to over $2.00 a day per webpage on a webpage that does not attract many Google advertisers (my test webpage is about writing a biography)... it's among the lowest paying AdSense themes you could think of.

I did this on purpose... to stay below the radar.

I'm now scaling out to go after more expensive themes (something some on this forum suggest avoiding).

It's all about split testing for me. The numbers and math don't lie.

I'm essentially multiplying my income by over 100 times with my strategies above. What's wrong with that?

you really know adsense. I am still learning, and testing some methods on generating more money. I have enjoyed your review. Maybe the thing with adsense is that not everyone should follow one specific technique, because there are many types of niches that would probably demand a specific way to show the ads.

While I appreciate all of the kudos...

... You'll put a smile on my face (and yours) if you rush to a webpage of yours and follow these simple strategies to boost your AdSense revenues -- and then report back your results here.

I remember going years with generating zero or a penny a day per webpage with AdSense... yet once again yesterday generating a record day.

    It's quite an awesome feeling.

I never understand people who create their sites for/under Adsense. If your site/blog is useful for people, it'll bring you money with adsense or without one. But if your site is useless crap, nothing helps you to keep visitors at all.

    To the Topic Creator:

People will benefit for your tips for sure. Some sites are a total mess, but at least tell them if one method is meant more for blogs, another for forums, etc.
Your tips are not worthless and anyone would benefit who needs help to make their adsense work better for them can use some of these and it will probably help.

I'm not alone. There's a long list of DP users who just "understand the concept" of how to make it work. I'm sure that there's plenty of other pro's who could take my 1800/UV per day site and triple up the adsense without sacrificing the visitors happiness level. And your totally right: Every site needs to be set up a little different with adsense. However........there are a few base rules for all sites and one of them I find to be broken a lot.
Never think that getting your clicks worth more each is more important than getting more visitors and just more clicks instead.

You forgot another way to get rid of dead beat advertisers. Add them to the competitive filter list (Adsense Setup -- Competitive Ad Filter)
