Anyone else finding it incredibly easy to manipulate MSN results?

I haven't had a single problem yet with getting a site into the top 5 in MSN. Anyone else finding it rediculously easy to get sites ranked? It doesn't seem to matter if the site is brand new either, anything can get ranked fast.

I assume they will be addressing many of the current flaws in the next algorithm they come out with, but for now I hope everyone enjoys how easy it is to generate disgusting amounts of traffic with MSN.

Ranking is easy on MSN.....Getting any substantial traffic from a #1 ranking is a whole different story

On keywords where I am #1 in the big three (Google, MSN, and Yahoo), MSN brings less than 5%

You can say that again. I was #3 for "E-bay" for a while(only Ebay was ahead of me), and I was lucky to get 30 or so visitors a day from it. "Free Downloads" is another popular one that I normally rank top 5 on, and it's only 120-150/day typically. Compare this to Google where I receive 200+/day from a significantly less popular term in the top 5, and received 700+/day when I hit #1 a couple months back...

I personally believe that it depends on the type of site you have as many of the users are using MSN because it defaulted to the MSN page when they got their computers.

Certain types of sites like webmasters, SEO, computers would not fit into that category.

Mine aren't webmaster related but I would agree that smiley and teen sites would get a much bigger chunk.

If I remember right, Fryman reported it was still under 10%

That's what I would naturally think as well, but I see a smaller % of MSN traffic for my gaming site than I do my technically oriented sites...

Nope MSN top 10 lots of keywords
    yahoo to 20 for lots
    google 40+ for all
a few in the top 10 , none of my primary keywords

did a check ising IBP and my densisty for links was 20% for int links & 13% for int links
dropped that down to 12% and 7%
but that dropped my yahoo ranking.. but i really want the google results

If you arent in the first pages of Google yet you are in MSN you will definately get a high percentage of traffic from MSN.

However, I think you would find you would get 10x as much if you occupied that spot in Google

The only way to accurately compare is to be ranked the same in both ;)

only traffic I'm getting from MSN is via form=DNSERR results :) I've got a number of #1 listings on msn but I guess search.msn.* is just not that popular... (compared to google)

hmm .. it is relatively easy to get into msn .. just loads of backlinks are enough .. but again .. the traffic is only minimal .. but it's a good SE to hook up before your site de-sandboxed by big G :)

Wow - thats pretty bad - it can't last like that forever - I can't imagine Gates putting out a product that gets laughed at as much as MSN - with out getting on the ball to improve it drastically sooner or later

ya, i agree with you.. this guy is outa control w/his doorway pages though.. im sure he makes a pretty penny w/adsense (as they are all high cost per click ads)

here's some more crap he puts out

    http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?FORM=MSNH&srch_type=0&q=bank+rate+refinance

    http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=mortgage+refinance+company&FORM=QBRE

    http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=mortgage+refinance+calculator&FORM=QBRE

    http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=online+mortgage+refinance&FORM=SSRE

the list could go on forever... it never ends...

does anyone know what doorway generator this guy is using?

True. Thats a really bad example.

On the other hand, I don't think they should take the approach that they want to eliminate all funny/spammy results. I don't think you should measure a search engine just on how well they keep out spam.

Google has taken that approach and they eliminate many good sites along the way. It is kind of ridiculous to think that if you do a search in Google for a competitive term, you will only see sites that have been around for more than 6 months.

    I found following
    1. When your site is ranked around #10 for any keyword, add that keyword once more in page, and site will go up. Add again and again site will go up. Keyword density range is high in MSN.(if any. Not all will agree)
    2. Google wants different anchor text. While for MSN exactly same anchortext works well.
