Should I allow dashes in dynamic subdomains?

    Hi all.

The site in question is www.n.nu in which I offer free subdomains and sites.

In my thread here I got a user that wanted to signup using a dash "-". Currently I am only allowing a-z and 0-9 but I am now asking myself if I should also allow "-".

    Wordpress.com does not allow it.
    Blogger.com allows it.

    What do you think?

I feel you should allow it.

    1. '-' is a valid entity for urls and domains. Many domain has '-' in it for separating words.
    2. It also helps in SEO purpose at times by separating keywords.

I suggest, if it is harmless, you should allow it.
