Any of you ever quit smoking? I am 10 days clean after 18 years of atleast a pack a day. Can't stop eating  , but, I am smoke free, anyone else?

There seems to be a fair few quitters at DP. Just stick it out (quiting that is), get fat for a few months and then lose the pounds after the worst cravings have gone. I think I'm about 10 months clean and I certainly feel the better for it, if you need support just post here or PM.

I am using Zyban and the cravings for cigarettes are almost non existant, for food on the other hand ;) I am actually in the process of joining a boxing gym, get back into boxing a bit and see if I can't drop to the weight I was in High School, that's a loss of 70lbs for those keeping score ;)

    Read this Palespyder:

    Imagine every breath like this

    Best of luck with it.

I´ve quit so many times it´s becoming a bad habit. Hopefully one of these times I´ll stick to it.

I quit 8 years ago after 12 years of smoking 20/day. Now I look at family and friends who kept smoking and hear them coughing up their lungs every now and then, if you know what I mean...

It gets uglier the older they get... don't ever start again

"They" say that after 10 years your lungs are back in top shape. I'm allmost there :D

As long as you haven't smoked for more than 20 years.

I just saw that on Charlie Rose last night. :p

Yes it's a pill, it's a very low dose of Welbutrin, an antidepressant. I tell ya though, I tried cold turkey 2 weeks previous and failed after 8 hours, I started taking the pills as advised and I am 10 days with no relapse.. Working for me.

I've heard it helps alot. But.... I could have sworn I have read that it can cause seriously bad effects. Maybe wrong though..

Although what could be worse than carrying on with smoking and dying a long cold death from cancer.

Ps; Congrats for quitting btw. You deserve a big pat on the back. It's not easy...Keep it up, babe!!!!

Are those the pills that had some tragic side effects on some folk last year or so? I mean I would like to give up the old cancer stick but am not wiling to die in the attemp. (Of course, I will die in the long run if I don´t make the attempt but you know what I mean).

I think I read about a no-smoking pill that was related to heart attack in young women or something like that.

Ahhhh it's terrible ain't it. When I stopped I just couldn't sleep, ever. I wasn't getting to sleep anytime before 5am for about 5 months. Even after I started again (and now..) I can't sleep until 3 or 4am. I can do shit loads all day, and be so so tired, but come midnight I'm bouncing off the walls.

anyway keep it up! you're doing great! (Come on peeps, show him some encouragement!!!) xxxxx

Same here Mella, I am usually in bed at 11:00pm and awake by 3:30 or so for the day. Pisses me off that I can't sleep, but, I have never been able to really.
