About IDN An internationalized domain name (IDN) is an Internet domain name that contains at least one label that is displayed in software applications, in whole or in part, in a language-specific script or alphabet, such as Chinese, Russian or the Latin-based languages with diacritics, such as French. Now you do, IDN have been getting snapped up for a while now (years?), im not sure for how long, but i can only assume it will rise in coming months.
how do i type that domain ? users with such keyboards may tend to type that so u need to target such users
Windows Vista From the Control Panel (Start -> Control Panel) double click on the 'Regional and Language Options' icon, then 'Keyboards and Languages', then 'Change Keyboard' , then 'Add' within 'Installed Services' under 'Text Services and Input Languages', and then click on 'Russian'.
nice domain you got there. but it will be really troublesome for the normal keyboard user to type in your domain though.
The only way a normal person could enter via that domain would be to enable russian via control panel as mentioned above or copy and paste it into the browser.
yeah type in domain traffic will be limited - maybe long term it may be more common for users to have access to be aware of how to input special characters such at this. So hanging on to the domain for 5-10 may be needed if you plan to use it as an investment. unique branding opportunity but it would confuse the heck out of people when it comes to typing in to get to the site LOL guess you will rely on se rankings, organic traffic and good links for visitors
I tried registering a domain name with GoDaddy using the form you have suggested, they then emailed me telling me the domain could not be registered (for what ever reason why) but they still proceeded to take the $10.00 out through my Credit Card. May I ask, did you have any problems registering this domain?
It's a punt really, all the common name have been taken years ago and i wanted a piece of the pie. But you are right ofc, normal users will not have a clue but im sure just enough the majority will be clued up on things. Soon maybe an influx in IDN will be flooding the threads for sale. One uses Latin letters the other uses Cyrillic letters.
Read This You can no longer, have two types of alphabet in one domain, for example Latin and Cyrillic. I made the same mistake on my first try.
Im not sure about one letter domains, as i didnt reg one. But i got they "they have refunded your account" email almost instanly after the domain registration failed. I didnt wait for the refund, i just tried again with another combo and regged my other domains.
Oh god, well what would you suggest I do? I tried registering a domain with one "Russian" character and as you can see that didn't work. Should I just wait until they credit my account and try again or take the $10.00 loss and learn from it. If they did, in fact, credit your account, how long did it take them and was it a full refund? ----- My domain is "RLLL" (R=RussianLetter) and not a single character, but have you recieved your refund as of now?
Honestly I was reaching for a quick money grab because I am extremely close to being evicted from my roomates house at only fourteen, but the domain I was about to register was ... http://Ñ€orn.com/ ... the "p" in the domain is the Russian character I was talking about, but I guess my dream of making a quick $200.00 has been quickly and repediatly shat on.
If you wanted Porn.com. you can not use just one letter of russian and the rest latin. they banned that due to spammers using it to trick people, aka the well known company paypal. If you read the link it explains that you can no longer do what you just tried, i think i even stated so below. Im sad to here it, can you not try again?
I would now like to register a domain I have wanted to since I started making tamplates but my ready-to-upload website is on my other computer which experienced a power surge last year. I honestly don't know, I will probably go through another 300 "LLLL" domains looking for a pronouncable one to sell for $25.00 ish, sigh.
