http://www.pearsonwholesale.com/store/ Looks like a site running the coop and lv on the same page(s). The 5 ads at the bottom, second from the last row are coop. The ones below it look like lv links.
well i jump in i see both networks as well.. 1st 5 change last 3 dont NZ Dating - Online Music - Tenerife property - Nike Air Force One - Martial Arts Supplies Auftragssynthese - Medicinal Remedies - Dog Directory
It seems this problem occurs quite a bit. There is no easy way to police it other than LV members spotting their ads and mentioning the site here. I would like to suggest either making the penalty for this an immediate ban to really deter people (sorry I didn't know should not be a valid response) or allowing LV and DP on the same page. As it is, it seems people will try it on and hope nobody notices.
I just wish I knew *why* Shawn doesn't want the two side by side. Personally, I think he should relax his standpoint in the interest of members, and give us a little latitude. LV in no way competes with the coop, so I'm at a loss to understand it. Given the advantages of LV, I figure we're going to see two things from prospective members.. A. A don't care attitude as above.. (The coop is good for MSN short term, but LV is Google friendly (or however you choose to qualify it)) B. Reduced rate of uptake or perhaps even erosion of the coop site base. If anything, an understanding of why the two shouldn't coexist would certainly be an education to me.. something I'm sure many DP members would appreciate. Cheers, JL
I don’t know. I don’t make the rules, I just play by them One reason could be to protect the quality of the network. Shawn had mentioned the auto-update feature from link vault in another thread and how it could potentially be a security issue. He didn’t say it would be, he just said it could. Read here. Imagine that there are 5,000 sites running LV & DP. Odds are that within both networks there will be a significant number of links (ads) pointing to sites running the DP & LV code. Now imagine that LV’s auto update feature gets exploited hundreds and hundreds of sites get hijacked. For this example lets say all the hijacked sites get replaced with porn. At that moment there would be hundreds (thousands?) of DP coop links pointing to porn sites. People click on DP links to – so the person who just came to your business site and clicked on an ad after they made note of your phone number to call you was directed to a porn site…say good bye to that lead/sale. Not saying the above would happen – just saying it could happen. I don’t see any compelling reason to open the DP network to this type of scenario. Like Shawn had mentioned, you have to think worst case. I’m dabbling with LV but am following the rules and am not running it on sites that have the coop. The market is large enough for both programs – one is not going to hurt the other. If used properly they can compliment each other very well. It will be tough to police and I agree that a lot of people are going to try and run both and hope they don’t get caught.
the auto update is an option for LV.. its not the default u have to make additional changes to have the auto update work
So if Shawn allows the Link Vault ads, where do we draw the line? If another 10 link/advertising networks crop up and sites start to add even more links to their sites then the overall quality of the Coop is reduced.
I don't see how adding LV links to a site would reduce the overall quality of the coop. Webmasters already exchange/feature OBL's. Just because it's facilitated by a third party doesn't mean it suddenly lowers the quality of the coop. I see significant advantages in having both, and no disadvantages. As for security concerns, there are none that I can see beyond the norm Cheers, JL
