Need advice please about secure ebook selling at homepage

I would welcome advice please about selling an ebook from one's homepage - but also keeping it secure.

I have seen links when I have bought ebooks where they expire after 24 or 72 hours, how can these be created? Are there other popular methods for keeping ebooks safe when selling from your homepage?
