Okay, I'm bored this morning, so I have a proposal for an experiment... Someone pick a key phrase and we'll see if the co-op actually can affect rankings in Google or not without doing anything else.
Hmmm... something that gets more searches per day than computer magazine would be more interesting I think. Cigarettes stink.
Is this coming out of your account or my account? I don't have enough weight to donate, but I hear you and fryman do How about 'yarn' someone mentioned it as an example yesterday and I can't get it out of my head...3.7 million results... Searches done in March 2005 Count Search Term 54002 yarn 26077 lion brand yarn 15236 red heart yarn 10409 knitting yarn 7269 bernat yarn Brandon
Hmmm... I want to do something quick and be done with it, rather than wait a long time... Books is probably one of those keywords that there won't be anything to look at for weeks. Yarn is an interesting one though... gets a decent number of searches per day.
How about laptop computers? That should do some volume. If you are bored, maybe you can send me up some Fred's or EZ-J's? Pretty please. I am going through withdrawls, I need my fix.
An interesting experiment Shawn but to make it worthwhile I think you should do it in secret. That way you can be sure that the results will not be effected by extraneous links placed maliciously or otherwise. Also you might like to consider having more than one such experiment in order to test the hypothesis that the results are reproducible. - Michael
We wouldn't have to know the site until later in the experiment...we can know the term though. Brandon
Okay... how about two different experiments. One for a new page on a sub-domain that never existed. And a separate one that points ads towards some sort of charity site for a term they don't rank well for already already (obviously no on-site optimization going on there). ...and for the record, this is not about making money.
Yes, money for a good cause. I quit smoking 3 months ago. Anti smoking, Charity donations any good cause might as well recieve any traffic generated. But its not my project
Nice one. There are plenty out there that need the help and one day it could be any of us in a bad situation. Anything I can do to help?
Personally, I think that is a waste of time. We need to do a new site and contend with the sandbox. That is a real life situation that we all go through. That would actually provide valuable data for everyone that creates sites. Brandon
