So as part of the updates, my site was bumped to a PR3 from a PR1 on my toolbar. I was excited to see the jump, and also went to the page rank prediction tool to verify it: http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_prediction Sure enough the page rank prediction tool also said my site had been upgraded to a PR3 (even though it predicted a PR4). Later today my site dropped back down to a PR1 and now the same prediction tool also said my site is back to a PR1. I was stoked this morning and now am depressed. Is this normal with google?
It flucutates like that for a few days during the update of the different data centers. In a few days it will stabilize.. The first time that happenned to me I felt the same.. lol.. you'll see.. just keep your eye on the serps.
Phew (I hope) So you're saying that since it showed 3 for a while it should probably go back up to 3, or is that not even a final?
A more precise answer would be that your internet browser randomly chooses one of Google's datacenters to get the information from. There are over 199 of these and each updates on its own time, they don't all update at once. At this time about 50% are updated with the new PR so you will see about 50% PR1 and 50% PR3 right now. Personally, I'm happy with my new PR6 ranking for most of the pages on my site
Download googles toolbar. Yes they are in the middle of updating PRs, mine are showing up like that. All datacenters should be updated within a couple weeks or so.
I've been a PR6 for a few months. When I heard all the hoopla of a PR update, I went to check out the datacenters. Some datacenters were showing PR5. Each day, I would look at the toolbar and hope it didn't change. Today, I checked and all the datacenters are showing PR6. Does anyone have any reasoning why this happened? My toolbar has showed PR6 since the last update, I think it was June sometime. -Chris
Do you guys all place a lot of weight in that number? I think there are so many factors that go into being "relevant" to a query that one number doesn't do it much justice..
I do because people frequently look at it when determining whether or not to do a link exchange with me.
download Google Toolbar or you may want to use the aid of some sites like http://www.checkmypr.com/ and http://www.checkpagerank.com/
