Google announced cross domain canonical tag coming by end of year
Thuis was announced by Google today at SMX. Yahoo & Bing will also be using this tag shortly after.

However, I really think it's going to allow one big spam site out of a network of mini spam sites to rank higher...
Which might be good IMO - (for the people searching) in many ways, so let's just wait and see how it will goes

Good find Barre Tire, but honestly I really wish Google would stop introducing all these tags of their own invention. nofollow, canonical, cross-domain canonical...

They say you should build your site so it is aimed at the user, but then they go introducing all this stuff aimed at Google.
