Hi people. I have a network of about 10 websites. One it´s a 3 year old website with about 1200 unique visitors a day. With a ctr of about 2% it makes me about $8-$9 a day. Other, it´s a cell phone website. It has about 500-600 uniques a day, and a ctr of about 1% and makes me about $2-$3. BUT... I got one, that it´s about Dresses and fashion, a very girly thing. My fiance wrote the content and it just came out of the sandbox.. With about 200 uniques a day, it has a CTR of 40% and it´s making me $13-$15 a day!!! The first website has 1200 cached pages on google. This one has 13. So... I figure: Men don´t click. Women does!!! I thought I would share this with you guys: Make girly content!!! They are ads maniacs!!
Yeah, I can see why, i mean If a woman sees a ad for some designer dress or something, she will click it
Very interesting, But it's kinda hard for a man to make woman content... but you can ask a woman to write about something and share with her
Or you could ask people their gender before displaying the site. If woman -> Allow If man -> Disallow and say "This site is not for men". Just Kidding
Last night I watched by girlfriend while she looked up Halloween costumes on the internet. I was some what shocked the amount of contextual ads she clicked on. When asking her if she knew that was an ad she said "No what are you talking about" I know this is only one example, but it got me thinking.
I think this is more of an example of a not-so-savvy user, not neccessary something that's related to women specifically. I've seen my dad do the same thing when searching for fishing stuff.
Its very true. Sites about cosmetics, clothes, etc. often have high CTRs. Its not uncommon to have a CTR of over 60% with these niches, but technology sites you'll be lucky to hit 20%.
yes i cud imagine that women always lookn for bargains, also women i think dont know about adsense compared to guys
umm nice assumption you base your "research" on two websites, and the only thing you can put it down to is men vs women? Nice one.
I can testify that these type of sites do have a higher click through rate. Take a look at one of my sites, primarily a forum but also check out the articles which have a constantly high click through rate. http://www.fashion-forums.com
overall, I don't think it matters. your site's niche will have a much, much bigger impact on the CTR than the gender divide.
