As appears on validator.w3.org Google front page has multiple script mistakes. What are those errors? Any professional script writers, can you explaine? Do i have to believe Google has failed in their codes?
I hear alot of talk about sites need to pass html validation checks to score high in the serps. If you check most sites at the no 1 spot they have loads of validation errors.
W3C validated pages are good as this validation helps avoid browser compatibility and other issues. But W3C validation do not directly have any affects on SERPs. There are many situations where a site will work perfectly but will show errors at W3C just like Google. W3C is a good thing to consider but we should not worry about it much.
You need me to fix it? Give me a minute - I'll get right on it. .. just need to ssh to the google.com server and ...
This is not weird. w3.org does offer a standard on an ideal site. But I believe no one would trust that a site without 1 error or warning would naturally appear on the top of SERP.
google are setting an absolute crap example for the W3C. as the biggest internet company in the world, they REALLY should be setting standards.
very interesting, but i'm not sure he can use "most pages dont validate... so neither does ours" as an excuse, shocking :O i also understand that validation can sometimes put a block on accessibility, but it can always be overcome. he even admits it. i would also like to see a slight preference given to sites that validate as clearly, these have been built more professionally, and this should be awarded.
W3C standards are a joke. It is impossible to maintain a good-looking, very dynamic Website and adhere to all standards. It's just impossible.
If Google wants to set standards, then it should definitely follow all the standards including W3C validation.
You'll find that google has it own validation method ... Google has their own W3C ... called W3G .. LOL ..
this is also an idiotic comment. unfortunately most of the people on this forum know very little about the technical aspects of the web. standards are there for the good of unifying things, which is MUCH needed!
