Chavez: Israel is performing a genocide
    (By the press agencies)

The president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, attacked Isreal this evening (Thursday) during his visit in Syria and called it "an imperialist country who is performing genocides". During a joint press conference with Syrian president Bashar al-Asad (btw "al-Asad" = "the lion" in arabic , chaostrivia), chavez added and said that: "Israel is resisting peace".

"Why was Israel created?", asked Chavez and immediately answered his own question, "in order to tear the Arab world apart, through assuring a north-american presence in the area. The whole world knows that." . The Venezuelan president is now in a trip to the region, and apart from Syria he will visit Libya, Algeria, Iran and Belarus.

During the press conference Chavez noted that: "I believe in a battle for a position of faith. It is now or never: the goal is to liberate the world from the imperialism and turn it from a unipolar place to a multipolar place". Asad has confirmed Chavez's words and added that Israel is not ready for peace.

This is not the first time that the provocative president criticizes israel in the most harsh of words. During operation "Cast Lead", the tension between the countries reached a peak after Chavez ordered the stopping of all diplomatic relationship with Israel for what he called: "An inhuman persecution of the Palestinian people".

    Well. what can I say.
I must admit that I didn't like at all Bush's oversimplified world of "axis of good" (most of the enlightened nations) and "axis of evil" - (in the leadership of Iran, Syria and N. Korea.)
But if I try to think about this oversimplified view of the world, I realize that even if we go to extreme simplification: there are some countries who just do not belong in neither the "axis of good" nor the "axis of evil".
Syria, N. Korea and Iran certainly earned a place in the axis of evil due to their crimes, committed mostly against their own people: cencorship, starvation, indoctrination, discrimination of women, persucutions or minorities, etc' etc' etc' (you know.....)

But Venezuela? I mean, it really didn't do that much (yet) to earn a place in the "axis of evil". On the same time, due to the above idiocy of their president, they certainly can not be included in the "axis of good".

Now lets look at Libya. Although definately part of the "axis of evil" before, Libyan elder president (the world's longest ruling dictator with 40 years in power) is fixing his wrong ways: he admitted to have a nuclear program and unilateral decided to stop it, admitted for his role in terrible terrorist actions and paid compensation for the victims, and he will probably soon visit the U.S. for the first time!, so no "axis of evil" for him. But, allowing a heroic reception in his country for a mass murderer, the Pan-Am bomber, and making his people so poor despite the wealth and abundance of resources of his territory, certainly can't earn him a place in the "axis of good".

    The Inevitable Solution:
I suggest the establishment of a new axis: "the axis of comedy", or "the axis of the ridiculous clowns".
First two founding members are, of course, Venezuela and Libya:

[IMG] L O L Gadaffi, the libyan president (more comedy)
[IMG] Chavez, Venezuela president. Couple of months ago in some conference our clown here annoyed the Spanish king so much, that the KING(!) lost his temper and shout at him in street language: "will you STFU?" :) the best of this clown

Imad certainly belongs to this axis as well, simply for the fact that he made me laugh so much in recent days! . Thanks buddy! . Just as Chavez blames the "imperialism", Imad blamed the "colonialism", when he tried to explain the (statistically proven) inferior performance in scientific research of the arab world, and in Kuwait in particular, the world's 4th richest country. And the best part is: even though I never used a swear word against him, seeing him loose his temper when faced with words of sense and facts so many times to the degree that he was calling me an Idiot for at least 50 times in another thread was also part of the fun!. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of him to add.

So, anybody could suggest further candidates for the "axis of comedy" we might make a democratic vote later (at least those among us who know what that means), and establish the axis in full.

    :D

Not sure what you were going for there but Chavez is basically right on the money about the creation of Israel. the unspoken idea was to give the west a foothold in the middle east, which became a more obviously important region with the need for oil after the war. the Jews certainly suffered a great deal during the war, but there were hundreds of equally valid nationalist claims during the first half of the 20th century that were simply ignored. So why did America and Britain choose to support the Zionist movement over all of these others? Hm maybe personal interest in doing so.

Its always nice to discover great new experts on Israel and Zionism in this forum ;), but I'd prefer new candidates for the axis of comedy.
Or are you suggesting Israel, or... yourself?
