New Line Of Code Added To Ad Setup And Code
Hi
Two things Adsense Interface has changed to reflect 'Tabs' much like in Adwords. Things are a bit confusing as changes made now require a bit more clicking to get to parts. Also while I was in the Interface I was setting up a new website today via Adsense URL & Custo Channels, and after setting up the ad I noticed a new line of code is added by Google.. google_ad_format = "728x90_as"; google_ad_type = "text_image"; //2006-09-24: IceCubeFans google_ad_channel ="XXXXXXXXXX"; google_color_border = "FFFFFF"; This it would seem, is a move by Google in preparing to perhaps hide Publisher IDs and perhaps require Publishers to indicate where they are displaying Ads...... Peace |

I realised that too.
But as far as i understand, it is just a useless comment with your channel name to help you with your channels. When you browse your ads, you can easily get which channel that ad belongs, instead of trying to figure out channel id.

I've suggested that to Adsense in the past, but until now...

Afterall, it's only effective if AdSense forces ALL the publisher to update their Ad codes. Good move BTW!

I know it's publishers' responsibility to keep up-to-date on policies, but is everyone required to use the new code with the added comment? I didn't see it announced anywhere yet.

No, as of right now that is not required. He was talking about how if google wanted to hide the publisher's ID, it would only be hidden for those who update there code.

Alright, thanks.
![]() I actually edited a piece of ad code a couple of days ago, but I didn't notice this change. I just wanted to be sure that I don't have to update the rest of my files. |

It's just a comment, and I guess you could claim that your ads were all generated pre this change. But the funny thing, technically anyway, removing that comment would be editing the code and would be against their TOS.
