Google sitemaps, coop and getting out of supplemental results

    Hi,

this is for who have suffered earlier because of google's effect on sites with coop and currently the pages in supplemental results.

I have done a small experiment to get my pages back, which I would like to explain.

Suppose your pages are currently supplemental..

Create a google sitemap for your site if you haven't done so and add it. After you have added / updated the sitemap in your account, find reinclusion request in the tools provided in the sitemaps account.

Submit a reinclusion request, stating that you have removed what could have caused problem earlier (say some unwanted links and all, dont explain in detail).

Find a visit from Google Inc in few days to your site (Not a crawler visit, a real human being to review the site)

Wait for few more days.. (Upto a month), you will see pages shown in normal index.

I have tried the above for 2 of my sites and I am seeing favourable results..

You cant just make up something for the reinclusion request and you do need to go into details with them.

I am betting its just coincidence you are seeing better results. I am looking at one site that isnt showing supplemental for now and up to last week every page was hit - their index is refreshing again.

I'll put using the coop down as coincidence as well.

I first did it one my site, it worked.. Seeing results with the second one also, I am posting this..

My sites were in supplemental from may end and if it is coming out means its not automatic. First site showed normal index last month and second 3 days back.. So that not necessary imply that they are refreshing the results.

One small point I want to add is MAKE SURE you do remove whatever you deem to be the culprid. Once you install sitemap Google can see EVERYTHING thats in the root, Eg. .txt file that contains links to network members (if you deem that to be the cause).

Additionally, GOOGLE SITE MAPS allows Google to see ALL contents on your server!! I know that's obvious but for those that think that COOP linking may be a risk...what a great way to show G exactly what you're doing.

I have not ever seen mention of this theory working, but it may .

google site maps can't see everything in the root. unless a link has been pointed to it or you add it in the sitemap.

I tend to agree with that. However, the g toolbar is spyware and if you ever accessed the files that are not in the sitemap, G knows it's there.

But I can't see that translating into a penalty.

Where is the best place to get a Matt Cutts dart board. For some reason I have really feel the need ;). I am sure his cat is a nice cat but I hate cats.

The oddest thing has started to occur today. My big sites (10k to 100k page domains) remain locked in supplimental results but some of my little, play or disposable domains are not supplimental with the highest paying Adsense clicks .

I have started using software that let's me see (realtime) who's on my sites and how they got there and push relevant ads at them. I have seen search phrases entered in Live search (MSN), Yahoo and Google that bring visitors to my site...

    1) MSN- very accurate with page content
    2) Yahoo- not very accurate with page content
    3) Google- WAY out there, a mess. Sending many visitors to my sites from phrases that have NOTHING to do with ANYTHING I sell.

My thinking is that Google has some whacked out offpage formula to determine SERPS that carries WAY too much weight. I agree offpage (IBL's) are important but does on-page even matter to Google anymore, *sarcastic cough*

I used to think Google was jerking around the SEO community intentionally. I am now convinced, without doubt they really are f*?ked up.
