Hi, I am currently making my business plan, to organize the way I'll create my online magazine. I want to write 15-20 articles a day, of 600-800 words each. Each articles will be about different subjects: Sports, Computers, Internet, News, etc. Now, I want to know if ... 1. it would be better to use 1 domain & 20 sub-domains, and create a big online magazine with it... 2. it would be better to buy 20 domains and create a lot of mini-sites that links to each others? Which solution do you guys would be better, on the long run, to bring in traffic from google? Thanks all for your replies, Steve
well... there is a lot of way to bring traffic to your site by practising internet marketing take a look at justonly.blogs.friendster.com Hope this help
how the hell are you going to write 14,000 words per day? Or are you getting articles from somewhere else?
What Im asking is, which solution would be the best to bring in a much traffic as possible? Thanks for the link, Im checking it out right now. Thanks, Steve
Damn, it's late here and I misread your post... this is my fault, sorry. Well, we are 2 people that will be writing for this site... and we can each write 7k quality words in 8 hours per day. For the next 6 months, we have the time to write 8 hours per day. Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve, From my personal point of view, i will go to option 1 because focussing on 1 domain is the best. Once you have a high level traffic site, you can create another domain and link them together. That mean you do not start from 0 for your second site. Interlink all your site need time. Option 2 is good if you have a group of senior webmasters updating the site daily.
I just returned from a seminar conducted by Google which stated that the Googlebot doesn't read subdomains very well. Google's advice is not to use subdomains.
shashe are you serious about the statement you made regarding sub domains ? i am nt questioninig you but instead clarifying it again ..... coz many said that search engines dnt like to crawl lengthy URL , ,so many say its preferable to have subdomain to make the url shorter !!!! please clarify my point
Google said it was easier for the bot to read single words rather than combined words (just like it is for us). Also hypenated URL aids in the site description for the bot. The bot gets confused by subdomains partially because it thinks it is a duplicate page since it has the same URL and it may bypass the subdomain. id= for dynamic domains is very, very confusing for the bot. It moves on. Warning from Google was not to spam the URL. If you use five or fewer hypenated words that relate to each other and relate to the site content, the bot will love you. If you use www.mortgage-casino-travel-wine-horoscopes.com and your site sells lollipops, the bot will be very annoyed and might drop you from the index. My opinion is that hypenated URLs are harder for visitors to remember. And, there is a slow resale market for hypenated domains. When I get a chance in the next day or two, I will post my seminar notes at the location I posted information prior to the seminar: Optimizing Your Websites for Google Search
But having mini sites and cross linking them to each other.....Forming network sites. Isn't it harmful? May be I am wrong.
Looks like its easier to create 1 big site rather than 20 mini sites. Ill use sub-folders for this. Thanks for your help, Steve
