Geocities closing 301 redirect to maintain search ranking

Since Yahoo Geocities is closing in Oct 09 is there a way to have 301 permanent redirect from Geocities to my new domain. This way I can maintain link credibility / page rank and Google search position.

There is no way to do that since you dont have access to .htaccess , the best thing to do is put a refresh meta tag and SE will know it.

Since the servers are closed. Request for access to files on geocities is not possible. Thus, you can't redirect. Redirection is a process of telling that you have another page.. But since Geocities servers are not working. No server could process or tell that a certain page should be redirected to another.

Complain? Email them back pointing to where they state in their FAQs that a redirect would be provided.

Did they give a reason why such a redirect wasn't being provided?

I spoke for some 40 minutes with tech. support, he said there is no mechanism to do this. Not on geocities, not on new small business account. The links they provide lead nowhere. He said that he wrote to management and I should receive email from them. I wonder how many people subscribed to new accounts. I have seen no complaints on the web.

This is something I see for the first time. I got this email:

    Hello Michael,

Thank you for contacting Yahoo! Small Business Support. On October 26,
2009, your GeoCities site will no longer appear on the Web, and you will
no longer be able to access your GeoCities account and files. When
visitors go to your GeoCities web address after October 26, they'll see
    a "page not found" error.

Sorry, we will not be able to redirect visitors to your GeoCities web
address to a new web site.

    Regards,

    Martin
    Yahoo! Small Business Support

So, these two Yahoo pages are fraud:

    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/geocities/close/close-09.html
    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/geocities/close/close-13.html

My site on geocities is at: http://ca.geocities.com/uoftfraud/
My new site on Yahoo Small Business (exact copy of the first one) is at: http://www.universitytorontofraud.com
