:D I challenge all of you to participate in this year's World Cup Teatsen.

The Official English Teatsen Association has choosen me, my flatmate and my other friend to represent the nation in Holland this summer (16th & 17th of July) but more open entries are welcome.

You might wonder by now... What (TF) is Teatsen ? I wrote the answer to What Is Teatsen there too.

I made a blog about Teatsen. Half of it is filled with nonsense but I also translated the serious, official rules . So have a look to see if it makes sense.

We'll be going, let me know if you are up for it.

That cracks me up. Basically the description boils down to the following:

So you're playing tennis with a big ball right? lol :p

LOL yeah now you mention it. It's basically tennis, but 3 against 3, on a grass pitch without a net. The ball is about the same size but softer.

It's not with the hand; that is the original, traditional sport 'Keatsen'. This Teatsen is with the racket as oppose to the hands. I played the original version from age 5 or so, up to the highest level yuo could get (still local only). But for 12 years now we have the W.C. Teatsen in the town I grew up in.

I forgot to mention there's always a lot of beer involved which is a major part of the fun. But when a match is on, everybody is serious about perfroming well.

Last year was the first time I brought my English mates over. We lost every match but had a great weekend. This year we'll be going with at least 2 teams so we can now practise a bit as well.

    Yeah... Hehehe :p Let's see:

    1) I can drink a lot of beer
    2) I don't look stupid after drinking a lot of beer - seriously! Everybody keeps telling me :p
    3) I never really played tennis, so can only improve after drinking a lot of beer.
    4) Love the fact that you're going to "pancake-country" with no hills - no offence to all the dutch people in this here great forum. Denmark is absolutely just as "mountainiously challenged" :D

    I only got two questions:

    a) Has Denmark allready provided a national team for this event and if no, is it officially recognized => can I get subsidized by government funds? (participating as a serious contender for my nation that is)

    b) Could Denmark be considered a likely candidate for hosting the 2006 World Cup of Teatsen and if so, repeat second half of question a)

    ;)

    a) South Africa, & Belgium have participated before. Denmark is seriously lagging behind and don't have a pro team yet :) Securing funds & sponsoring is up to you. I wouldn't be surprised if they have funds available. The E.U. might even have a tip jar available for international sports events (just don't mention the beer).

    b) You'll have to compete with England. If you can beat our top location you stand a good chance. You might have to impress the Dutch Association first with a good performance of dedication to the sport.

PS I can smell a pan-European DP meet up... :)

Yes you can. But you'll have a hard time sourcing vinegar. Plenty of mayonaise though. It's normally Frikadel Speciaal we eat with chips.

    Nice and greasy...

How bout you take that guy up on his offer of a free 43" plasma TV? That should sort you out :)

Are still stuck in the 800x600 era?

No paper, always these plastic little 'plates'.

Actually, the above is not a Frikadel Speciaal. It's missing the onions. This is a real one:

But served in an unconventional posh manner.

    *yfs1 hangs head in shame*

I actually run two 800x600 monitors which I prefer. Someday I will get two really big monitors and enter the 21st century.

I can't work on one monitor though

LOL! I had my monitor up to 16 x 12 to get more real estate, but having a second monitor is far superior. I have a short memory and become confused when I switch between views on one monitor. 2 it is for me, or I feel nekkid :)

Uhm, before start training for the world cup tourney, will there be any drug testing? Some unscrupulous sorts might try to gain an unfair advantage in the line-ups for Frikadel Speciaal :p

:) The organisation are trustworthy people. The NOC isn't involved yet so don't worry.

    Very good question indeed.

As usual I'll happily volunteer for the drug testing part. A few q's of my own:

    1) What drugs will we be testing on the drug testing panel? :D

    2) Is it more of a "test everything you can find" kind of test panel? :p

    3) What kinds of drugs can be expected from excessively and abusively intake of frikadels and such?

    4) Do all contestants have to test drugs? :D

Guys, remember it's in Holland. You are probably well up to date with the lagal status of drugs in our country...

Or did you mean it as a side-contest? As in who has the highest test scores gets extra tourney points? I doubt they'll introduce that.

Frikadel is made from meat 'left overs'. I just read on Google news that a dutch 26 year old lady was diagnosed Kreuzfeld Jacob (mad cow) so maybe we can skip on the frikadellen this year (not scaremongering of course). I'm a bit off meat anyway.
