A product that has desperate buyers would be a good place to start, and BTW clickbanks not all its cracked up to be, its a lot of work and some of the time for no return.
What niche are you into? There are a lot of good products out there but you have to send traffic to have a chance of earning some money. Traffic equal money. Search on this site http://www.nichejunky.com/ for popular clickbank products and also see some stat's on em.
Have a look at http://www.cb-analytics.com/ and http://www.cbengine.com/. Choose products that have gravity. You can also use google trends, ebay pulse.
Ideally find a niche with quite a good market but quite low competition. Use the Google Keyword tool to see how much a keyword is searched, and then find the amount of pages for the same keyword. However you will have to make a judgement about what is "saturated" and what isn't.
I would go for a newly added product with low gravity - make sure you are happy its a quality product.

Forget super high gravity. Go for something between 10 and 50. Still proven to sell but less competition. Much easier for a beginner like yourself to grab some real estate.
By the way, just to point out Mind Reality is promoting his own product to you I'd suggest you check it out before you decide to promote it. Just to elaborate on what rolf said, do go for between 10 and 50 gravity. If it's higher then 10 it clearly converts if 10+ affiliates are making at least one sale a week from it (bare in mind it is usually much more than just one sale a week per affiliate if their good) and below 50 means theirs not too much competition for that particular product. However, bare in mind just because it's between 10 - 50 gravity doesn't mean you should jump straight in on it. Research it, check the conversion ratios, check the keywords available for the product and more importantly how much competition you're going to be up against.
