[WTS] - Small software business & extras - $225-$450/month

I'm selling because I want to hand this over to someone who has more time. You need to be a C++ programmer or be able to hire someone to take over the programming duties. I haven't touched the application in a few years and it needs two things to keep customers happy - to be recompiled in a newer version of C++ so it works in Vista, and we've gotten a bunch of requests for the ability to draw across a second monitor if the user has a second monitor installed (right now the drawing pane size is fixed to the users screen resolution - so they can't move the cursor over to the second monitor).
I really only want to sell this to a buyer who can make a commitment to release a new version in the coming months. The code isn't too terribly complicated, but of course - you'll need a competent programmer to make sure that any new features are rock solid.

The application is programmed in VC++6. It is wrapped in Software Passport (Armadillo). You'll need your own license of this to do your own wrapping. It's been very successful for software protection. The web site is programmed in ColdFusion. It's a pretty small site. If you want and you know PHP - I'm sure you can convert it over in an hour or two.

If you are a current customer and stumbled to this thread - if the site doesn't sell - don't worry I'm going to find a way to take care of you when things get a little less crazy. If there is a buyer who wants to purchase everything - I'll do my best to make sure they have the resources to put out an update soon.

I also have three ideas to share that will increase profits/sales. The first to write a program to auto generate keys to send to the clients (the RegNow fees are huge). You can get information on how to do this on the Software Passport forums. The second and third ideas I'll only share with the buyer, sorry.

Most of our sales come from referrals (I get e-mails sometimes from customers asking questions and I like to ask almost everyone who e-mails how they heard of us). We are listed on download sites, but these only account for a small percentage of sales. I'm not sure if it matters, but a good percentage of our sales come from some fairly prestegious and well known companies. Many have bought more than one license.

I've had a request (or two? I don't remember) in the past few months for a branded version of the application (see our web site for details), but I had to turn this/these down because I was just too busy at the time.

I use RegNow to handle the payments and to generate the keys. They've been amazing, and their customer support has been terrific. I might be able to just hand over the account to the buyer and notify RegNow that there has been a change. I don't have any traffic stats. I never kept track of this (sorry) as I never thought it was terribly important for a product site like this.

I also have 2 bonus extras for the buyer.

The first is a tray version of the product called Draw Tools. Draw Tools uses hotkeys for ease of use. It runs in the Windows

tray and uses very low overhead (it also has improved pen drawing abilities not found in the main product). The hotkeys are the ALT key plus numbers 1-6, t, z, e, c. It's easy to find out what each one does - just go through them all.

I meant to add this product in as a bonus for $5.00 extra, but I didn't have time to implement this strategy, so I just ended up giving it away to anyone who asked (word got around through referrals after I gave it to some clients to try it out).

The second bonus extra product I meant to give away as a free add-on for another site I have, but it never got 100% finished, so it's just sitting on my PC collecting dust. It's a screen capture program written in C++.NET 2003. It needs a bit of bug testing and a prettier UI and it's good to go.
