Are you analytical? Can you do research? Are you concerned about the environment and interested in green technologies? If you have a certain set of skills, then you should easily place in this competition. Last week there where just three serious posters. Please see last weeks contest to see that this is for real, and for those that have been through some DP contests, you may want to note that the original post was never edited, and payments where made by the originally posted deadline. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1385985 So, what set of skills do you need to place well in this contest? Do you think about: Alternative energy? Environmental issues? Concept vehicles? Wind turbines, Solar Energy, Etc? Do you enjoy: visiting sites like ‘How Stuff Works?’ doing research? staying current with important environmental issues? Can you: do high-school level math? cite your source? That’s about the level of ‘engineering’ and ‘technical expertise’ that I need. Why do I think you will do well if you answered yes to several of these questions? To be honest, many of the participants in Digital-Point ‘content creation’ are often paid on a per-post or per-word basis. They are not in the habit of striving intellectually while writing online. Simply stated, I find many of their posts to be boring because they don’t research interesting and unique points. Here’s how you compete? PM me once with: PayPal eMail address for payment nickName on my site (One account per DP member please.) nickName at Digital Point Create an account at: (please pick a nickName that an adult would use.) Read the questions I posted as John and RogerDodger in the forum section to get a feel for the problems and issues where thinking through. Post thoughtfully researched posts mostly in the forum and to a lesser extent in the comments sections. Never plagiarize (i.e., cite your source). Hints to place well: Think of this forum as a ‘Think Tank’. Research before you post. Always cite your sources (this makes your posts sound intelligent and well researched) Use good grammar, but use a conversational tone and interact with others. Challenge others (in a nice way) if their facts are wrong. Quality of posts is more important than quantity. Come up with an interesting and fun use for the site's Google Map. Think. Learn. Be creative & have fun! This contest ends at 10 P.M. E.S.T on Saturday, and a total of $20 will be split among the winners according to my best judgment. Winners will receive payment by 12 midnight E.S.T. The recipients will be posted on this thread. This as a contest. Some people will make good money, however If I don't like your post (for any reason), you will make nothing ($0); period. If that's a problem, then please don't participate. It is my hope to put together a core group of good writers for permanent work. Your writing must make visitors want to come back. Forum Posting is where you start and prove your writing and research skills before you can create stories. Thanks for reading my post, and I hope to see you on my site. John (aka RogerDodger)
I'll be doing this later tonight! Thanks for the awesome contest, I'll be sure to put a lot of time and effort into my posts!
Oh I have a question, where do you want us to post in? Just the forums, or in the blog/article section also?
I would be happy to participate in this contest, as I am genuinely interested in this niche. I have sent you a PM with all of the necessary details. Thank You
Thanks for your interest GottaHaveStyle. You can post anywhere that you all are permited: blogs and forum. Regarding the questions I asked in the forum, try to address some of them. I know many of them are extremely complex. These are the bases for future story development ideas that I need help researching. I don't expect them to be resolved in a weekend. Just try to tackle different angles and do some good solid research that has a point. They are interesting questions I think. Thanks a lot for your interest. You are the second contestant btw and no one has done research yet! And let me know if you have an idea for the Google Map; good ideas have value ($) in my forums!
Thanks for your interest CriticalContent. These are complex and diverse issues, but very important. Way more than I can handle independently. I need good minds accurately breaking these issues down and striving to find ways to make them easily comprehendable by the general public. We have a graphics contributor (GottaHaveStyle) to help with this if you have any ideas for making information more intuitive and easy to understand.
$ Here are some Hints $ My favorite post so far: prkhitman taught me something that I didn't know about 'matkas' and their ability to cool water. http://fuelefficiency.org/?q=node/132 I did challenge him a bit on his choice of links though. There are just three contestants. That's good for your chances. (I tried to get gottaHaveStyle to stay in, but hey, talented people are hard to hang on to. Maybe next week GHS?) Easiest Money? I think it's going to be answering a few of my questions that I planted around. Yes these are complex at first look, but many are broke down into 5 or 6 sub questions that you can Google. No one has answered one of these questions yet. Just Google one or two of these sub questions, and supply a link and describe what you found, that should get you some cha-ching! Hope to see you there!
Hey, I love this thread. This is in fact one of the most originally thought of things in the DP forum. Its kinda late here and by the time I get up, it just might be past your deadline, but I will still try and pitch in something that's interesting and worthwhile reading.
http://www.fuelefficiency.org/?q=forum It's neck in neck: first CriticalContent had the lead, then prkHitman pulled in front, now CriticalContent is back in the lead. $ Another Hint $ I only have three interesting posts so far. There is still easy money here. ~2 hours to go! Another hint: Who knows what the hoopla is about LED lights? . . .
10 PM E.S.T., Contest is Over I am in the process of reviewing the posts. $20 will be split up, and distributed before 12 Midnight, just like the original unedited post says. Winners will be announced here shortly after PayPal payments are sent. Thank you for your contributions.
I missed the deadline! And I had so much to say, lol! =) Thanks RogerDodgr, I'll be sticking with the site regularly. I Googled about the Trombe Wall you mentioned and it was an eye opener
We only had three contestants. And the winners are... 1st place: prkhitman, paid $11.00. 2nd place: CriticalContent, paid $8.00 3rd place: Sakariwrites, paid $2.00 Well this was a tough decision, but in the end I have to go with the content that was most relevant to my site. I suggest looking at prkhitmans post that I mentioned earlier. This is still my favorite post; it fits my web site. I'm going to make an announcement shortly for additional little writing jobs. In the mean time I want to thank you for your participation and I hope you had some fun. We will probably make this a weekly contest, maybe every Friday. Go to my forum for information on making a couple bucks submitting short articles. It will be up before I go to bed. Incidentally, don't forget to look into my Revenue sharing AdSense program. It's just a little perk to help inspire good writing. Thanks!
Thank You for your input and a very prompt payment, I do appreciate it. However, if I may state my opinion, I fail to see how LED lights and water coolers are more relevant to FUEL efficiency than the most efficient form of alternative fuel (hydrogen) and it's consequential impact on the current fuel industry (the largest industry in the world). Regardless of the outcome though, I must say I enjoyed writing the article and I am proud to contribute THE TRUTH, to ANY website. I most likely would have written that article for FREE, simply because it is a reality that I feel people need to understand. I hope you are happy with my contribution to your site, and if I find any interesting things to post in the future I'll be sure to contribute more. I just thought I should mention that LED lights and efficient forms of cooling water generally pertain more to ENERGY efficiency in terms of electricity, however I fail to see the connection with FUEL. But again that's just my opinion, and I respect yours as the owner of the site. Congratulations hitman, you did an excellent job though, I wish you all the best and God Bless. Thank You
I don't really see this as "work", this is actually quite fun and educational! Oh and where can I see the part about the short articles? I'm exploring the site and I must say the forum is rather unconventional, in a good way.
Thanks SakariWrites. I will put it up now. Thank you for checking back! http://fuelefficiency.org/?q=node/135
