The title says it all: Joomla vs. Drupal, which one is the best? For those who had the chance to experiment with both CMS, which one would you suggest?
It might help if you define 'best'. What are you looking for, what sort of site are you trying to make?
I think it depends on what you're going for. I like both. I prefer Drupal's admin more than I do for Joomla, but I think they are both good CMS' to use.
Like most poll-like questions, none of them. Choosing the best depend on a number of individual factors and there are too many Content Manager Systems out there. However, in overall terms I conser that the best is that coded by yourself or tailored for someone else according to your specific needs.
I disagree, I think it can be entirely SEO friendly. There are some great extensions out there that help make it SEF. It's just not SEF by nature.
I disagree One of my clients runs a huge (literally huge) system on windows, and they are almost unable to shift to real linux. He uses Joomla. SEO wise - it's a disaster.
I agree on this 100%. I also think that Drupal may be a dying community. There are tons or modules for Joomla though.
there's a nice comparison article there: http://www.idealware.org/articles/joomla_drupal_plone.php http://buytaert.net/drupal-vs-joomla-performance
Personally, I think Joomla is very user friendly. Easy to use, easy to install. Drupal, on the other hand, is a bit harder for the end user but is a beauty for developers due to its cleaner and more powerful code. Ultimately, it really depends on what you need it for. Joomla would be great for content site. And Drupal probably more for a community site. Drupal has in SE friendly URLs, and blogging and even forum. With Joomla, the last time I looked, you can extend its capabilities to include all this with modules and add-ons. ~Bina.
I used Joomla for one of my sites, and it took realy lots of time to compose template for it. So I would not suggest using it for simple sites, since its realy time consuming to run it on Joomla.
Personaly i like joomla it is simple to use and to modify to your own needs, as for seo i dont see any real problems if you use advanced sef then your urls are spot on. I have used joomla for about 5 sites now and have advanced sef for three of them all of which are doing fine in the search engines, sef advanced are constantly at work and support many popular components. I agree with the comment about drupal dying out i think in a year or 2 maybe three joomla will be the right out winner when it comes to cms a bit like google and web search
I use drupal. Im not VERY pleased with the results. You can do a lot with it but a big learning curve like stated already. Tons of modules but can get very buggy if not managed correctly.
Have worked with both cms. Have to confirm that Drupal is harder to learn.(in my case). So I sticked with Joomla.
