Checking to see if a site is banned...

You used to be able to check if a site was banned simply by entering the url and Google would either return no results found if you were banned OR it would say not found and tell you to try going to the link directly at site.com (if you weren't indexed but not banned). Doesn't seem to be working for me at the moment, can anyone confirm?

So, no results means that site is banned?

Although it could simply mean your site hasn't been indexed but if it previously had results then probably banned. You can also use google toolbar, if pr bar comes up grey that mean banned.

OMG, so this means that one of my sites might not be banned! I'm so happy :d

Are you sure 100% that it is what it means?

That could be the case but not necessarily, but none of these posts are answering my question :/
I'm not looking for a different way to check if a site is banned...just wondering if the Gooooogle way still works.

    2. View the Google Toolbar.

Download the Google Toolbar here: http://toolbar.google.com

Once it’s installed, simply visit your website. If the Google toolbar is completely gray and shows no page rank, this means you have been *banned by Google.

    * Note: Most SEOs incorrectly call this “gray barred”. Not “banned” as it should be. Ok, so now we know how to tell if our website has been banned.

    Source: http://marketingdefined.com/blog/category/seo/google-sandbox/

And a very old DP thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2050

I would use IE and firefox to see what comes up as from what I found just then it is a grey area (haha).

But I think if you serach for a while you'll find a conclusive answer probably on Google help center.

I think you cant get banned till you do anything unethical. So try to avoid these things and you dont need to worry about getting banned.
