Saw this threat at webmaster world and did a site:domain search on one of my domains and it gave me unrelated domains. It seems like others are experiencing the same thing.

Saw it yesterday. All my "site:example.com" searches returned someone else's site in position #2. Not a spammy site, just not mine. And always #2.

Looks like a bug to me. Today it's back to normal.

I am seeing it as well. Glad to see it wasn't just me. I am getting strange results for my sites searching www.mysites.com and site:www.mysites.com.

"site:" operator is totally screwed up.

For some sites, I get a different number of results everytime I use it.

I was talking about this to someone on my site the other day. I thought it was just me! Glad to see other people have had the same problem. In the nicest possible way :)

Anyway I think that both "site:" and "link:" are pretty useless. Neither works properly. How can you do a search on your site, see a load of backlinks and yet when you then do a "link:" search it throws up something completely different?

...that one has always puzzled me as well -- anyone understand it?
